Looks like some rough conditions out there today with the high scores posted already. Who will step up in the absence of Tiger? Mickelson already in with a 79 (+9).

^haha, that would be discouraging

Looks like it is still raining of there. Could see some huge two day scores if the conditions continue. 150 making the cut?

and wtf: Villegas threw a 65 today and everyone's favorite British Open golfer Jean Van de Velde is tied for 15h.

Woo hoo Duval!

I know a lot of people don't like him, but he was one of the few with talent to match Tiger....I wish he could regain his form.

the bbc live text is quality! here's a sample...

Mickelson hits his approach to within 10 feet of the pin, a birdie would take him to seven over. Mickelson flashes that sheepish little grin of his as he marches down the fairway, he looks like a small boy who's just been praised by his mum after using a proper toilet for the first time.

Daly with the quintuple bogey on 13

to be honest, I don't think I've carded a 9 on a par-4 in my life

then again, I've never played a PGA major calibre course in those conditions

it would be fucking great to see Norman win, but if he somehow gets a 6 shot lead going into sunday....we all know how THAT will turn out.

It would be awesome to see Norman win it. He was my favorite golfer before Tiger came on the scene.
I remember watching him choke away a lead at Augusta one year. (I think that was it)

he choked the lead away at augusta multiple times

at least in 86 and 96 when nicklaus and faldo won

he did it again when larry mize (I think it was mize) chipped in on 11 on the playoff hole.

He has won 2 british opens though, and never a major in the US. He may very well win it tomorrow. I'll be interested to watch it either way. I'm pulling for him.

that's not a choke. that's just losing.

A choke is having a 6 shot lead on sunday and losing by 5.

Well, Duval did what everyone was waiting on and fired a LOVELY 83 today!

Norman started off +4 through the first 6 holes and was a shot back, but has since regrouped and let Padraig fuck shit up and he's back up 1.

Go Shark.

I know its all subjective now

but is there any way a healthy Tiger doesn't win this by 3-4 shots or more ?

with the wind like this, it's tough to say anyone would have won easily... even Tiger.

and I hate that it seems Poulter is probably going to win.
