its a cat face

usually used as a lion, although the lion typically appears as " >:3 "

Quote :
" :3 love it 545 up, 38 down hate it

A symbol meant to represent the cat face made by anime characters when they say something clever, or sarcastic, or are commenting on something cute.
"Isn't it just adorable? :3"

2. :3 love it 279 up, 42 down hate it

Kinda the '~nya!'(japanese phonetication of english, kitty sound) of the internet. Used to indicate coyness, cleverness, anime-geekiness, cuteness and funny (if not questionably oafy) behavior.
dbzritzer:what were you doing with mikebawler in the other chat room?!

3. :3 love it 17 up, 12 down hate it

An internet smiley used to show quirky/cute expressions. Occasionally it is related to the 'Holy Crap!' meme regarding lions.
:3

"Holy crap! It's a lion, get in the car!" "

i'm glad none of you indicated the use of a graphical signature.

it's a horribly annoying waste of bandwidth.

i usually say "thank you" or "sincerely" or it depends on the subject matter...could end with something else depending on what it is about.

for some reason i am really irrtated by people who sign it like this:

best,
katherine

i just don't like it at all. "best" really annoys me. strange, i know.

personal, usually just end with the last sentence, occasionally, depending on what the email is, I put Thanks!

business, press enter a couple times then put Thanks, and all my contact info (it is auto populated, first thing I did when I got the account)

pLeAsE ThInK oF ThE EnViRoNmEnT BeForE PrInTinG ThiS EmAiL!!

I have seen the above, without the caps, several times, usually the sig is a mile long when this is included, along with some sort of joke or picture.

It actually changes fairly frequently.

If it's someone I don't know:

Sincerely,
Thanks,
Hope you're well,

If it's a friend:

Later,
See you soon,
Peace out,

I usually close with:

"A+++++!!!!! Would do business with again!"

I add more plus signs and exclamation points as necessary to convey emphasis and sincerity.

Generally I end an internal corporate email with

V/r,

(that's "Very respectfully,")

or

Thanks,

I change the tone depending on what's going on. When you're calling somebody out on doing something wrong/being wrong/being an idiot/god knows what the hell is going on, "V/r" comes quite in handy. I learned to use that while working at NNSY because of all the military types i was in regular contact with.

I try to avoid putting closings in my signature. For me, it just got too weird after seeing one too many emails where a manager chews someone out about impending crisis or is in a panic and the signature closes it with "Thanks!". Also, if I want to thank someone, I'll put it in the body of the email. Just feels cheap again seeing it used in so many signatures for emails that are clearly not thanking people.
