UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (21-4 MMA, 6-0 UFC) will make his light-heavyweight debut and take on veteran fighter James Irvin (14-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at a July 19 UFC event.

I will most definitely be watching this from my couch Keeps me from going to Playfakers and enduring their shitty tv's & food.

I think Silva is gonna be just fine in this weight class. I really wanna see the Jesse Taylor/CB Dollaway fight. I like Taylor, he is a goofball but he might be on his way up.

meh, not really a fan of taylor.. he is the typical one dimensional wrestler. He can't stand up and trade, so he will shoot and take someone down. Then he is strong enough to lay on top and basically do nothing.

The only time I want to see a fight stay on the ground for extended periods is if they are skilled submission artists--which JT$ is not. Otherwise, you get boring ass decisions where the wrestler consistently takes down his opponent and then doesn't do a goddamn thing with it.

as for the silva fight, it kinda irritated me how irvin just laid on the ground like a little girl after one punch to the face. i had hoped to see a half-decent fight at least, not a pathetic beating like that.

yea that was a really good hit

watching it in slo-mo was pretty cool because you could see silva saw that kick coming before Irvin even started his kicking motion. Then silva just braced himself and countered


at any rate I was kinda because the match didnt last longer

watching the slo-mo yeah that was about as solid as you can get the thing that made me think it was a more grazing hit when i saw it on tv was the fact that irvin still seemed fairly coherent (considering that hit), as soon as he started falling he curled up and tried to think happy thoughts, whereas i would have expected most people that get that punch to just sorta fall over in a daze and collapse in a heap. oh well, i guess that's what you get when casual mma fans watch.

im sure hes been tested for everything there is to be tested for

you cant be cleared to enter a ring nor can u get your fighters license unless u are negative for just about everything

and performance enhancer tests are done at random AFTER the events, but they have just in the last couple months instituted random drug testing at anytime between fights

so id say hes good, and the PE drug testing should be done by now
