He made the right move for his career.

He made the wrong move for my ears.

i can honestly see him being like beck

bouncing between dancefloor/party albums like this one

and clever earcatchers like night ripper

sounds pretty unpolished to me.. I read that he uses a calculator to know where to place beats.. You can definitely tell...
he needs to work on his breaks and edits

liked his last CD a lot more.
I don't even own it, but a former roomate played it for me and I remember liking it a lot, but that might have been the beer talking.

But I don't think this CD is nearly as good as some of the stuff he played me

I should say that half of this cd is still pretty cool. Mostly the second half

not saying I don't like it, but when listening to other similar artists, who put a lot more time into thinking about what goes well with what, what tones and melodies float over what beats, I just get a feeling that a lot of that's not going on, it's just random sample after random sample.
And the fact that he said he doesn't even listen to diplo or other similar artists, because he's 'scared' of what they might be up to, well thats scary enough in itself...
I haven't listened to the whole discography, mostly just feed the animals.
I guess what i'm saying is that he has some room for improvement, if the RIAA will allow it..

i could see it both ways, assuming he's telling the truth

i mean, if i just hacked together songs like he did, i might be intimidated by the kleptones (who can beautiful match entire vocals with entire instrumentals for a totally different emotional experience, all while sampling commentary on the art form itself) or the avalanches (who take tiny snippets of things most of us have never heard and make them something entirely new)

i like the record, i think it's fun, but there's not a whole lot of artistic merit to it

note that i don't think sample-based artists can't have artistic merit, because many of them do

but feed the animals is very fluffy
