home presents lots of problems for serious study sessions (internet access for goofing off, tv, video games), so I tend to stick to libraries when it's getting serial

where do you do your studying?

i never studied much in college

but when i did, i did it in front of the tv

when i really needed to concentrate i'd go to the long tables at the library and study hardcore for an hour or two then leave

i could only study in the library if i could find a quiet place to myself

depends what i'm studying.

if i'm doing math, stacks at DH Thrill at a cubicle, and if available i get one of those whiteboards.

if i'm reading or going over powerpoints, the 2nd floor of the east wing (above the learning commons) is a great place.

I spent a lot of afternoons from ~2-5 studying at Cafe Cyclo because it was always really quiet at that hour and I could get some coffee. But then it closed. And then I graduated, so I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.

Rarely studied in college. But when I did, I could just do it on my desk in my room...or shit, even in bed while watching TV. College was all memorization.

In law school I've become addicted to studying in coffee houses. I can't study at home because I live on the beach. So during the day I want to go to the beach and at night I want to walk to the beach bars. I get stir crazy when I study, so there's always enough going on in the coffee shop to me from going nuts while reading hundreds of pages of ridiculous statutes and cases. And not enough going on to distract me (if it gets too busy, I just put on my headphones and get some background music going).

don't really study all that much, don't really have to for the classes I was in; however since its constantly slow at my work, I'll probably do some studying there once I start grad school.

i usually just open a book and look at TWW and call it studying

actually, i can usually study in my room. seems that my studying usually requires a computer to look at homework solutions and stuff

if i'm writing a paper, the only way i can do it is to go up in the stacks and cut myself off from the world.

I'm still not entirely sure I know how to study. I did occasionally go to the library (5th or 8th floors only) if I wanted to get away from distractions to do some necessary reading.

home office

when I set it up, I didn't have a cable outlet wired there to cut down on distraction

So glad I'm not the only one. I can study at home sometimes with a little music. But I would go to the library on an undisclosed floor in an undisclosed desk for serious stuff. During exams, I refuse to go to the library unless its for group studying.

I've never really had to study. I tend to pick shit up pretty quickly. When I did need to study I basically just reread the material or reread my notes so that it would be fresh in my brain for the test. I guess that's all there really is to it, right?

I study either lying on the bed (reading) or copying/making notes at the desk in my room.

If it's something super hard core I get to the library around 6 or 7AM when it's nice & quiet.

^^ Same here. I just read my notes all over again and highlight dates and names and such. I can't do boring book reading in bulk. I suppose there's not much more to studying than reading. Who knows.

In college, random corners of the library. In med school, coffee shops, especially ones that didn't offer free wi-fi so I wouldn't get distracted.

when i was writing my dissertation, i would lock myself in my office at work, put a DND sign on my door, put on my headphones, and face away from the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking downtown Atlanta which offered a lifetime of distractions.

when fully motivated I could knock out 3 or 4 pages in a day

i tended to use the library, but when in grad school, id just use our lab in jordan since it was hell of a lot quieter

my unusual thing to do though was study in the morning...somehow i cant study the night before

i have to go to bed early, then wake up and study...makes it easier for me to have it as the first thing to process in the day

i used to like the library. but that is when it was big enough for me to escape from people (NCSU...not during exam week, though).

now my school's library is more like social hour. except its vicious. people aren't really trying to socialize they're trying to be nosy and figure out how you study/what you have or don't have/how far along you are on x project/what grade you got, etc etc etc. its like social hour with knives. so i usually study at home.

I didn't do much studying in college.

my gpa is proof of that.

i used to go to the long tables and pretend to study, but find other people like me to waste time with.

i always liked studying in poe or daniels. i find that side of campus to be much nicer. also, the third floor witherspoon is a good spot as long as technician production isn't going on.
