Is there a place where you can request a copy of one without knowing who the lawyer is? 7/23/2008 1:11:47 AM |

a family friend died and promised a (very) small piece of land to my dad. Dad says that it was in the guys will. So now we need a copy of the will, but don't know who the lawyer is... 7/23/2008 1:14:56 AM |

If you were mentioned in the will, the lawyer should get hold of you. 7/23/2008 1:15:47 AM |

that's what I tried to tell him, but he thinks that the executor of the will is intentionally holding back information on it. He will probably be on my back until he has a hard copy in his hand. Is there anything I can do? 7/23/2008 1:17:40 AM |

The search for the will sounds like the makings of a cute independent film.

hmmm. I would tell your dad to relax. Maybe it is me, and I am not trying to judge anyone, but the motivation seems greedy. 7/23/2008 1:19:58 AM |

^^haha, thx.
^yea. Here's the deal. His mom basically threw him out blah blah blah, and the family friend actually owned the house they were living in. The small piece of land was the property that the structure is on. I think he wants the piece of land as a bargaining chip or something.
Honestly, I'm 100% happy if nothing comes of this. I think he's both greedy and not particularly trustworthy. You don't stress over getting a piece of land or house for free just cause you want to settle a score. However, I did promise I would ask so I'm holding up my end.
