"Being a soldier isn't just following orders, it's following those orders in the service of a higher cause. When that cause is betrayed, we're not soldiers anymore, just pieces on a chess board dying for the wrong reason."

Do you think Maggie Chow ever went to the bathroom only to find an MJ12 officer in there and got all mad?

Also enjoy this picture from the "JC Tenton" series

When does that quote occur? I don't believe I've ever heard it before. Every time I play this game or talk about it, I learn something new.

Carter says it. I forget when exactly.

I think it's when you tell him the truth about UNATCO.

One of my favorite conversations in the entire game.

^^ Yeah... kind of like people have favorite lines/conversations in movies. Some games have fairly well written dialogue.

I have only played 2 and thought it was pretty rad. I heard 1 was way better and if so it sounds killer.

By today's standards the graphics, rendering, and physics for DX1 suck ass. But it's so much damn fun to play. And there's lots of different ways to play through the game, linear plot notwithstanding. That's the real testament to a truly great game; when the game play is so solid that nothing else matters.

FALSE

FALLOUT 2 IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THIS GAME

WHY? BECAUSE OF WAR.

WAR NEVER CHANGES.

Oh look we're super advanced in the year 50000 but we can't even make a gun that doesn't break after you shoot it twice

I can't get the game to work on my computer. Fresh off the install, it was really really choppy. Fresh of the last patch, the game speed slowed down to something ridiculous. Is there another patch I don't know about or some other fix I can try?

What version of Windows are you using? Game of the Year edition runs fine unpatched in XP, I just reinstalled it a few days ago.

XP Pro, and the disc cover says "special limited edition." It almost feels like my computer is too good for this game, lol.

I always felt like I was kinda cheating when I was using the lockpick things. Like you could use 6 lockpicks to open the door but I always felt like it was more fun looking around to see if I could find the key or a vent or something to get through. When I ended the game I had like 50 of those things.

The one complaint I had though was that the enemies barely had any reaction to being shot. Like I could shoot one guy in the face with a shotgun at point blank range and he would get hit, react, and shoot me back before I could finish pumping the shotgun for another round.
