how trustworthy would you guys say DVD-Rs are?

I know they're susceptible to bitrot or whatever, but how likely is that?

I'm sure it wasn't his fault since it was unopened

i know of one company that requires DVDs to be copied off yearly. but the reason for even using DVD is specialized to a certain reason.

i'd say that even regular people should just go with drive mirroring. like someone else said, it's cheap enough to buy extra drives

^ Who wants a six pound laptop? Seriously- buy a desktop for 1/3 (or less) of the price, and use the remaining to buy an actually portable laptop.

^^^when you're buying it through a school and don't have many specification options, you take what you can get. but for the price, i'm very happy with this.
