Make a solid pitch for Brett Favre...i know Delhomme has completed 99% of his arm re-hab, but I seriously dont think Jake will be leading my boys to the promise land this season..even with the tons of weapons we have at wide-out? I like what Jake has done for our squad the first few years b4 he got hurt but his last season prior to getting injured was just HORRIBLE?
I think Delhomme could learn a lot from Brett even if it was only for a season...what do you guys think the chances of the Panthers making that pitch for him? 7/24/2008 5:57:21 PM |

I think that would be bullshit. I don't see 'Brett' taking us anywhere that Delhomme couldnt this year. We run different types of offenses. I know it sounds ignorant to say that Favre wouldnt take the Panthers farther than Jake, but given the context we have, 1 year in a new system, Jake is going to be better for the team. Factor in the drama circus that we would create by bringing him here, and it just aint worth it.
If the panthers pay to get Brett Favre in Charlotte this year, I am done with them until he retires again 7/24/2008 6:00:58 PM |

So you dont think the current squad would rally around Favre like they did Delhomme that year where we lost to the Patriots in the superbowl?
Not, that the guys wont already be motivated as crap, but I think if they were to make that pitch, I cant see too many of the guys being opposed to it. Im a massive Panthers fan, but I do think Delhomme could learn a great deal from Favre.
Im sure we'll find out within the next two weeks what is going to happen... 7/24/2008 6:09:47 PM |

If you're saying that, you either loathe Favre, love Jake, or have Downs Syndrome 7/24/2008 7:13:18 PM |

I loathe Favre, but I think it is a valid point. Favre isn't the magic fairy of football greatness, he is a douchebag with loads of baggage coming with him. Jake isn't a terrible QB, he has never thrown more INTs than TDs since being a Panther. He makes his 2 stupid throws per game, and then he is usually on.

I must have Downs Syndrome.
I actually enjoy watching Favre and think he is a good player, but I do not see him as a savior of the Panthers. He is way to risky, and hurts his teams when it counts.
I doubt Jake will learn as much as people think he would learn behind Favre. If Jake had not suffered injuries and had decent weapons/threats he would have bigger numbers.
Please remember, Favre has one only ONE superbowl. (ok so Jake has not won, but hey, blame that on Kasay).

Thanks for those stats man...I think it would be a more accurate a comparison if they played those five years behind the exact same offensive line....b/c lets be honest the past two seasons my Panthers O-Line has been weak as shit! So yeah, maybe some of those Ints Jake threw were due to an O-Line not preventing folks from taking his head off. 7/24/2008 9:15:20 PM |

^^yeah we rode stephen davis and a healthy defense...Delhomme had a better year 2 seasons later when we went to the NFC title game again
plus McNabb completed that 4th and 27 pass when we probably shouldve locked up with yall in the NFC title game

Out on the football field they do. Favre and Delhomme both run around like kids out there, hootin and hollerin to get their team fired up. 7/26/2008 3:24:47 AM |

you probably hate the Panthers since they own the Cowboys in the playoffs, when it counts

No, Delhomme just runs around acting like an idiot and then gets all whiny when things don't go his way on the football field.
If shit goes wrong for Favre, he just starts chucking it downfield into double coverage rather than mope around like a 7 year old.

You know, there's plenty of legitimate negative things to say about Favre at this point, but whining while on the football field definitely isn't one of them.
Meanwhile it looks like every false start and dropped pass is enough to push Delhomme to a fit and tears. 7/26/2008 4:24:49 PM |

Well all of those 3,000 back-up QB's my Panthers have better be fucking ready to play this season if we need them!
By the way speaking of the Panthers...why the hell did we get rid of Keyshawn Johnson..he reliable as shit and he would always pick up 5-7 yards every catch..I mean as large as he is..it always took two guys to take him down...we couldnt of just gave him a one year contract..just so delhomme has another reliable target to go through.
Plus he was a good leader on the field..he still has another 1 or 2 good seasons left in him! 7/27/2008 12:34:43 AM |

You're both stupid
Lots of teams wanted him, but he wouldn't play for less than 4-5 mil, which no team was willing to give him
He makes more working at ESPN than he would have made on the contracts offered to him to keep playing 7/27/2008 2:45:06 AM |
