Does anyone have a solutions manual for Feedback Control of Dynamic Systems, 5th edition by Franklin, Powell and Emami-Naeini?

Controls was my least favorite course during my entire time at State and was definitely not easy, so I feel for you. However, solution manuals dont get you anywhere man. Best bet is to get a group to study and do HW together with. If you all can't figure something out, go to the teacher for help during his office hours.

I generally learn the best after seeing multiple examples worked. Especially examples that arnt the crap ones im getting in class.

hahah, getting an A doesnt prove that a class wasn't hard, so I hope thats not what you were suggesting. Especially after considering the factor of a curve. I think got a B in that class and I would still say it was one of the most challenging courses I took.

Class average on our first test was below failing (I was in Hurley's class I think) and the next 2 were not much better.

I put in about 4 hours every MWF morning doing the homework for that class. If you put in the time, you'll understand the concepts and perform well on the tests.

Yea you can definitely do it, just a class that demands the work. I didnt find it as intuitive as other ME courses

well a 98 on the first test, a 90 on the second, and a legit A on the final would suggest that the class isnt that hard

I would suggest finding some other text in the library that has worked examples or at worst finding a soln manual for another book and checking out that book.

I know I struggled in that class with having to reconcile Dr. Ro's methods and notations with the franklin book as well as how the franklin book tends to show a really easy example and then ask really hard questions, so there's nothing really to go on.

^^ or you had easy tests or easy teacher (which im not saying is the case, you could have just done well). but my point is that the GRADE one person received in a course doesnt have much to do with the difficulty of the material in the course or the quality of the teacher especially in engineering.

There are courses with easy subject matter that certain teachers make ridiculous tests for and there are classes with difficult subject matter that teachers make tests for which dont require you to KNOW the course but just regurgitate HW methods. I did well in Engineering across the board and struggled in that class as did every single one of my friends who I always studied with who did very well in Engineering (a few who graduated with 3.85+). So coming in here and just saying "I got an A, the course was easy" doesnt mean much to anybody.

And for the record I got an A on the final too and the class was still hard (the final was way easier than the tests).

Ro gives tests where the average is like a 40 and the high is an 80, but he curves final grades to get the distrubution he wants. how much of a project is he making you do in the summer?

advice for ro's tests: he does things like write a test to cover 5 or 6 concepts in 3 or 4 problems, so look for ways to take the result of one type of problem and run it through another.

for instance, you might have to come up with the transfer function for an electromechanical system, then apply a stability criterion to find out the range of stability for some variable or set of variables.
