I like ketchup, mayo, yellow mustard, onions (grilled or raw, doesn't really matter, but diced is preferred), and pickles. Lettuce is good, but I typically opt to go without. Bacon is not required, but always welcomed. I don't have a specific order that the condiments have to be placed onto the burger, although I do like it when the sauces are placed on top of the cheese, which is itself placed on top of the burger. Everything else goes on top of the sauces.

I'll eat damn near anything on a burger...why I love Red Robin so much. Now if they only had a smoking area...

A trick I learned from my girlfriend and her mom (though now that I think about it, my mom does it too): mayo on both halves of the bun.

Basic burger necessities: mayo and ketchup. Plenty of both.

Next: any kind of cheese, with cheddar, american, provolone, or monterrey jack topping the list.

Lettuce and tomato go on TOP of the meat. Mayo always on the bread, maybe with a little touch of mustard. Good dill pickle slices or chips to isolate from the ketchup that goes on top of the tomato. BTW, lettuce should go on top of the tomato to help keep the bun from getting too soggy.

And a good helping of salt.

A chili and slaw burger (with diced onions, of course) is also good, but to make it RIGHT, gotta slather with mayonnaise.

A fried egg is damn good on a burger too. With lettuce and tomato, and the required hefty slathering of mayo.

And by the way: MIRACLE WHIP SHOULD NEVER EVER GO ON A BURGER. BLASPHEMY.

whatever i have on it, i like for the meat to be on the bottom bun, and my sauce on the top bun. everything else in the middle. if there is cheese, it should be on the meat to ensure meltiness.
