Well as much as I like the crew from 40 yr old virgin and I enjoy their movies, I am very wary. Just about every single franchise reboot has sucked. I'm sure they could make a good movie, I just don't think it will capture the same mood as the original Ghostbusters film. I see the original four Ghostbusters are going to be in it, so I hope that they will have a very large part of it. 7/31/2008 9:18:16 AM |

they're already working on ghostbusters 3. It's called ghostbusters: the videogame and it's written by the orginal creative team and starring the orginal actors 7/31/2008 9:48:41 AM |

This apparently has no connection with the video game except that they feel Bill Murray changed his mind about another after they got together to do the video game. 7/31/2008 9:54:25 AM |

while this would be awesome, I doubt it is true. That photoshop picture came from the GBfan boy forums aparently just before this rumor started, they even use the un edited picture in that article, hehe.

Murray type - Rudd Aykroyd type - Rogan Ramis type - Carell
and then token black dude
More I think about it the better I think it could be if they took it as a ghostbusters movie first and foremost then add in some of that Apatow goodness. 7/31/2008 10:10:37 AM |

I know their style is branded "apatow" but i'd like apatow to stay out of it. Let the Akroyd and Ramis control the story and keep that subtle humor that made Ghostbusters as great as it is. I don't know if these four could deliver that same style the originals did, but i'd like for them to try. 7/31/2008 10:52:21 AM |

What an insult that would be to the original cast if they put those goofballs in their place. 7/31/2008 11:22:11 AM |

Those guys are different than the original cast, but like the article said these are doing exactly what Murray and them did back in the day. If not these guys I think the Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson crew could be a good match.

I can see it. It would not be a disrespect to the original crew. They are doing the same style of movie the original crew did. I would not want the movie to "match" the past movie verbatim, and I could see these guys adding a lil spice to it. Though the thought of Vince Vaugn, Luke Wilson, Will Ferrrell would be off the chain.
I would like to see Ghostbusters re-done and done with interesting charismatic actors.

as much as i like toilet humor and cussing in movies, i hope they keep that out of ghostbusters. it was funny without having to resort to cheap laughs, and there was also an element of thrill in it. and i'll be honest, when i was a kid ghostbusters 2 scared the crap out of me 7/31/2008 5:08:15 PM |

I'll say again, this is only a rumor and not likely one that comes form a credible source.
That being said, I think that if this crew were to do it it wouldn't have the same pot/sex/gay jokes that all of the past movies have had. These guys could pull it off, make it funny as hell, and maintain the same theme of humor-horror that the past GBs have been all about.
Oh, and as far as the Wilson Farrell Vaughn idea goes; it would be complete shit. This crew could pull off the same types of characters. Wilson/Vaughn crew wouldn't even make sense.
again, this will never happen either way. 8/1/2008 12:13:01 AM |

Theres nowhere in the article that actually mentions Judd Apatow, so theres no reason to think Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis wouldnt write and be in control.
This movie could be directed by McG and starring Ashton Kutchner, and Id still be there at midnight. Seth Rogen and crew would be fantastic. 8/1/2008 11:09:25 AM |

My aunt and uncle live a half block over from the firehouse and I can't help but take a picture of it every time I'm there. On any weekday the firefighters stand around outside waiting to pose with people in pictures, its pretty funny.
And as far as claims go for seeing ghostbusters the most times I can't really compete with but, I did watch ghostbusters II two or three times a day for a good 3-4 month stretch. 8/3/2008 6:11:10 PM |

i'm the same way with the original. I may not have seen it more than anyone here but when i was younger, there was probably an 8 month period of my life where I watched that movie at least once per day.
