I have a pretty good idea of what I want. But what I want you to do is post pictures of what you have, why you like it, why you don't like it...and also what you really want (if there's a difference between what you want and what you have).

lay it on me (not the TV. those shits are heavy, OK?!)

yes, I know there is a tech talk section...but BobbyDigital banned me from there

Samsung LN##a750 where ## is either 40" 46" or 52"

Easily the best TV on the market now, in terms of picture quality.

It has tons of other features too (really) but picture quality is the most important.

If you can't afford that one, go with the a650 model, it's 90% as good.

-i like it cause its big 56" and HD and it was not that expensive for the size
-drawback is that its DLP and your viewing angle is best when either eye-level with the TV or below

its awesome for xbox 360

Good description. My dad just got a 52" 650 model.

The 750 and 650 are exactly the same except for the tons of features. It's 90% as good, but you don't really need the other 10% anyways. The extra stuff includes things like: sudoku and other games on your tv, recipes on your tv, etc. Great TV none the less.

^^ The 750 actually has slightly better upconverter, IIRC, and it has dual-HD-processing PIP. It has a better picture too.

And the DLNA streaming which is great if you don't want to burn out your PS3/Xbox or if you don't have a PS3/xbox.

In the store, I couldn't tell the difference between quality the two TVs.

Also, I don't remember the last time I used PIP. Nor would I care if the PIP is in HD

I got the 40 inch because i'm holding out to get a bigger tv during thanksgiving weekend, but wanted something to watch football on sundays. but I wanted something small enough I could put in my bedroom without it being overkill when I get a bigger one.

I like any LCD really, I just wanted something middle of the road with a decent manufacturers warranty. If you want it really, really loud it makes a echoing sound in the back of the tv because of it's round design, but the only time that happened is when someone was drunk and cranked up some rap music as loud as he could.

oh right...

the sound system is a different issue. I don't expect any LCD to get great sound. I'll get a better sound system later.

I just bought the 46 inch Samsung 650 model and I'm really happy with it. Can't complain about anything. Like it's been said the 750 is the step up, but I didn't really care about having silly things like games built into my tv. I've got the xbox for that.

So +1 Vote for a Samsung LCD.

i don't even own a TV

i've lived with roommates for years who've had TVs.

now i'm living in a house by myself. there's a nice, big LCD TV here (belongs to the owner of the house, who's in Iraq right now), but it isn't hooked up, and the cable isn't turned on. I think I'm logging on to a neighbor's WiFi. I probably won't even bother with it--it's just 6 weeks, then I'll be in Iraq, too.

i think most of the burn in shit from plasmas has mostly been technologically worked out on the new plasmas. I still feel like they glare with that glass covering the screen.

^^^ yeah, I wouldn't even bother with that if I were you.

I can't say I even watch TV that much. When I get off of work, I have it on in the background while I shit around for a few hours. But I do like my video games and movies....and I'd like to watch them IN STYLE now, ahah

nah, I really just want to buy a present for myself. I've been good lately.

^ nice TV

Samsung is coming out (or maybe has already released) and 850 series with the LED backlight like Joes, that actually would be better picture quality wise. The LED backlight gives it supposedly a > NTSC color gamut (means it will look amazing).

Nice, what are you going to be doing there (or can you not say?). Also, who will mod TSB if you are unable to?

samsung 52" plasma. it's AMAZING. got blue ray hdmi and that's sweet too. DDL screaming "drainage!" was pretty awe inspiring. i'd recommend a 15" sub to go with it.\

also wii on it is pretty badass too.

i love plasma.

Panasonic TH-50PZ77U - 50" 1080p Plasma. Awesome TV, and if I remember correctly it was either #1 or #2 in the Consumer Reports review. There's probably a newer model out now or due soon. This one was manufactured in Sept. 07.

^ consumer reports TV reviews are crap (but that's a decent TV)

^^ Samsung doesn't make a 52" plasma, it's probably a 50" plasma, or a 52" LCD.
