You don't mess with the IDF. period. If you have a problem with them, fight them. But sitting back and running your mouth about them just pisses them off... and culturally, they're trained to fight, not to debate.

Plus, it was a rubber bullet. He was fine, Johnny Knoxville gets hit with harder stuff just for kicks.



The soldier will probably be reprimanded and could go through a court martial procedure, but I didn't hear what the guy said, and I don't know the specifics of the situation.

People do funny things when they are backed into a corner. And as much as the OP loves to paint the Israelis as aggressors, they are surrounded by hostile nations that would wipe them out at a moments notice if given the opportunity.

If the Palestinains disarmed right now, there would be peace in the region. If Israel disarmed, every Israeli would be dead within 48 hours.

Yes, the 48 hr part was an exaggeration, but it's no exaggeration that if Israel demilitarized even slightly their enemies would very likely take it as a sign of weakness and try to make up for their previous losses.

The guy who shot him is still a dick, but Israel is only slightly more stable than a warzone to begin with. I wouldn't go taunt a heavily armed cop in new orleans after katrina hit as the same thing would likely happen. People are uncivilized in general (a majority of people), and expecting heavily armed people you come across to be civilized (or even slightly empathetic toward your cause) is naive.

actually, IDF seems to only be good at killing, raping and bulldozing civilians.

when underfunded, undermanned, and underequipped Hezbollah fought the IDF in the July War of 2006, the IDF fell completely apart and showed the world that they are only good at killing unarmed combatants with their US funds.

These weren't "ragtag bands," these were government organized and supported Armies from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi, AND Palestine. These weren't "rock throwers," these were state-supported units. Just as in 67. And In 73.




As far as July 2006, and every other goddamn war that Israel gets into, they exercised restraint against Hezbollah. Why? Because had they gone in and torn Lebanon a new asshole they'd be subject to even MORE criticism. So, because they act within the confines of the diplomatic community, they catch shit and are "exposed" for being weaklings. That's horseshit.


But, I DO see the overarching principle here...

Israel is damned if they do and damned if they don't. Everything is their fault, everyone blames them, and they're not nearly as strong as they and the American Government claim. I can't see why they won't just let al those nice Arabs, Syrians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Egyptians, and Saudi's just come on in and be nice!

This thread is obviously just troll bait, but I will say this. The Arab states, up until the Yom Kippur war, had a material advantage over Israel.

You can say want you want to about the IDF, but it is by far the most professional/disciplined army in the region (admittedly not saying much). Though it does often get elevated in peoples minds to a higher status than it deserves.
