It's just fun to watch buildings go up from scratch. My dad and I have always had this thing where we visit a construction site once a month or so to notice how it develops. It's like watching a sunrise - it's the change of scenery, the morphing of the landscape and structures that fascinates me. Maybe it's just the engineering in my blood (which is ironic, I suck at math).

we're seeing a minimall thing be built on a day-to-day basis in our development

there will be a pizza place, a coffee place, a hair salon, and for some reason a Segway store

Hahah, the Greshame Lake pass over 440 was awesome to watch. They had to shift so much land around. We started going out there about once a week because it was changing so often.

I only said that because my dad is an engineer so he had a technical appreciation of the goings-on in N. Raleigh, but I had my own artistic purposes in mind.

He grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island which were under constant construction back in the 50s. The sound of the pile driver's ch-gunk ch-gunk ch-gunk is imbedded in his mind.

I was just giving you grief based on my own bias. What sucks is I see things going up, and it looks awesome in skeleton, and then you begin to see the skin/envelope coming together and I just get pissed. The apartments/condos near mellow mushroom is a great ex.

the photos cat uses of jobsites for stuff are pretty good but also very conservative. i know its a conservative company but i'd love to see some interesting photos of jobsites instead of "safe" "good" photos

I prefer a field over a strip mall any day. But its cool to see stuff in downtown change.
