My friend brought this question up the other day and I began wondering the same thing. If someone orders Road Runner only for their house would they then be able to get basic cable (i.e. no box) for free? Time Warner has to have some way of regualting this but I'm not sure what they would do unless they would place some sort of filter in the box by the road.

i imagine they would put a filter on it... you might be able to squeeze the local handful of channels out of it, but i doubt much more

The filter is really easy to take off if you have access to the box on the side of the house/apt. but you didn't hear that from me. and yes, once you take the filter off you get free basic cable for the cost of internet alone. but again, you didn't hear that from me
