i know that im gay because i have a cat so no need to get into that. i love cock! also, skip to the last line for a summary to avoid words

so i have a cat named PEPE. quick background: there was a cat that roamed the neighborhood... i went and got a bag of cat food and kept it out back in the storage room on the patio, and i would leave food out for him. then the neighborhood association newsletter thing came out and it was like OMG FERAL CATS CALL 911 IF U SEE THEM.

so, as lots of you know, i'm a sucker for a stray cat. so i decided i would adopt pepe. this was quite some time ago, and pepe has been great for over a year. but since it started getting hot and humid, he has this "hot spot" between his shoulders up by his neck. its a little red sore that won't heal.

pepe does not go outside, i have been cleaning it daily with peroxide and then applying neosporin for 2 weeks now. but he ALWAYS licks it off and makes it start up again. so i bought an E-collar for him (that funny cone shaped thing). and he can bust out of it (hilarious btw). anyway, i got him an appointment with his vet on friday, but i'm about to go take that e-collar back and im just gonna trade it for store credit.

one person says they know a groomer and forwarded me an email that says to buy SULFODENE (http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3051157) shampoo or something. i just wanna try something that he won't lick off. i'm sure the vet can do something, i just want him to not itch or bleed till then. i'll obviously ask the people at banfield over there, but i know there are lots of animal ppl on here so i figure it wouldnt hurt to ask real quick

so theres the story and what ive tried. what would you guys buy to put on a cats hot spot that would a) not get licked off, and b) make him stop itching so bad

h4xc4t is a cyborg animal created by drhavoc and myself. dr havoc wants to use him for good, i want to use him for evil. i think h4xc4t is currently on probation for hacking, and working for sunbelt creating antivirus software

evan: im gonna get him some of dat 190% antibiotic cream from the vet and once i have that i will hold him until it soaks in or something, im guessing the vet will have some ideas. thinking about picking up some bactine or whatever its called, basically something in a spray form so i can hit him every time i see him

ive been using neosporin but i dont think that numbs it... so im gonna get SOME TYPE of cat friendly medicine to give him some relief, and let the vet deal with the healing (and putting an e-collar on him!)

What kind of food do you feed the cat? My mom's dog has the same problem, mostly in the summer. After many trips to vet, and every cream/pill available, they figured out that it was a food allergy to the fillers (corn, soy, wheat) in pet foods. The better brands of pet food have less fillers then than the cheapo store brands. It's cleared up for the most part, but she still has the occasional outbreak.

PS-dudes with cats are awesome. don't take any shit from these tww homos.

my suspicion is that he is working where he does so that he can have access to all the latest advances in malicious code, and know what to avoid when writing his own. he said something about the evolution of the "malbot 666" - so only time will tell

(h4xc4t was also recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, so i'll believe it when i see it)

umm, it was just like meow mix back when he was a bum but after i stole him from the woods... he eats different types of friskies wet food (prefers turkey/chicken in the morning and seafood at night... but strangely enough he HATES beef, he won't eat it), and i keep some kind of dry food in his other bowl cause it has different nutrients or whatever in it. just looked - friskies indoor delights.

wet

dry

http://www.friskies.com/Dry-Cat-Food/Indoor-Delights/Default.aspx

i mean i definitely spend more on cat food than most people. he went from the outhouse to the penthouse (totally stole that phrase from some dude on tv) -- good idea on the allergy, though, i may have added a new flavor to the rotation. i'll think about that more.

No real idea what to put on the hot spot. I'm sure one of the cat ladies will come upon this thread soon. Let us know how it turns out.

1) How the hell did that bastard get out of an E-collar?
2) Is this the only skin problem he has?

Have you ever heard of a cat taking down a cow?

But, by cat had a raw spot on its head and it turned out it was allergic to dry cat food (that it had been eating for the first 10 years of its life).

But what you describe sounds more like an allergic reaction to some type of bite. I would try something that's NOT an antibiotic (since that's obviously not working), possibly like an anti-itch cream or antifungal (maybe it's ringworm?).

Note: I am not a vet or anything like that.

^That's why I asked if it had any other skin problems.

All of a sudden, my cat started licking off large patches of her fur and constantly scratching open sores.

...Turns out she was allergic to a shampoo I'd switched to.

^^^that is really annoying

it could be an allergic reaction or an injury, so i'd wait until you see the vet before trying to treat it more. the stuff you're putting on the cat could be aggravating whatever is wrong with it

1. he's INSANE he actually ran down the stairs backwards into the front door, then kept doing some sort of flips over and over until it was off him. i was fucking amazed. i'd honestly need a slo-mo camera to know exactly how, but he gets out. most cats just cower in the corner with the e-collar.. it kinda keeps them still cause they're so scared

2. no, never had any other problem. he's apparantly about 2 and he's all current with shots and checkups and all that preventative stuff

it seems like maybe an allergy to me as well, cause i do kinda switch his canned food around (within the same brand, just different flavors) -- i know its not the dry stuff, he's been on that for a long time now.

no fleas, no ear mites. if there's a worm shot, he's had it. dont know if there is, i cant remember. but i talked to the vet and we're gonna see how this looks on friday

Quote :
"pics or it didn't happen. "

that might actually be a decent idea, to take pictures a couple times a day today tomorrow and friday morning to see how much it changes before we go to the vet (or to show her)

hmm i dunno. i feel like i'm overreacting cause its not a big "cut", but its bloody and its gotta itch like hell or hurt.. and i would hate myself if it ended up infected and the cat had to get his back amputated.

just find a way to affix it so the cat can't take it off
or
crate the bastard so there's no chance of tom foolery once it's on.

i've used this stuff called Quick Heal on dogs. my mom swears by it for horses. i've even used it on myself . it's good stuff. i couldn't find it online, but it's in a spray bottle. might try contacting a tack shop or something. OH WAIT, maybe the place where you keep your horse would know about it.

i've also used NuStock on dogs that had skin irritations. it's a lotion, but you have to wear rubber gloves when you put it on and they're not supposed to lick it. it works wonders for me though.

BTW everyone, in case you didn't notice... i've already picked up the stuff i'm gonna use, so any posts after my post with the pics is pretty much for the history books in case anyone ever has a similar problem, i guess. either way i appreciate all the suggestions-- don't hesitate to post more stuff, but i got mines, yo

NeuseRvrRat:

that's the main problem. i don't want him licking his hot spot regardless of what's on there. even if it's just water or peroxide, that crazy cat tongue pretty much draws blood instantly every time i put something on there and he starts licking it. i ended up getting a product that talks about how bitter it is, and how cats won't want to lick it after they try. and from what i can tell so far, that much seems to be true. after i put it on, he goes to fix his hair.... licks it once, and then sits there trying to lick his tongue, popping it in and out of his mouth and shit. good times

My cat got out last weekend. Came home with some cuts.

Now those are starting to heal, and she's picking them. I accidentally got some of the bitter spray in my mouth and OH MY GOD
I think she's going to leave her scabs alone
