Vicky needs the following:
coolant flush
new brake pads
machined rotors
new tie rods, pitman arm, & idler arm
alignment
new hoses (should have been replaced in 2003 but weren't)
repair leaking master cylinder
replace idler pulley & tensioner
repair leaking pinion seal on rear differential

Total: about $1500 after a discount

Some of this I could do myself, but I don't really have time.

So basically I'm paying at least half of the car's total value. I figure it's still cheaper than getting a new car.

Yes, still cheaper than another car. Plus (depending on how many miles it has on it) it should have a lot of life left in it.
