^^Wow you know thats just an ingenious answer. I partically liked the way you answered the question with such detail, not vague at all. I mean you just put so much thought, into such a specific, unique, non-rhetorical answer. I envy you my friend. 8/7/2008 4:47:29 PM |

there are 2 things that scared me exclusively as a child:
- my Speak-N-Spell - our microwave
i had very bad dreams about both of these things and it caused some serious psychological trauma for me for many years 8/7/2008 4:50:07 PM |

ummm i can't even remember. nothing really. not any of the showbiz or costume stuff. people in costume scared my brother (like at disney world AND showbiz...lame). but i wasn't scurred.
oh...i have kind of a vivid imagination so sometimes i would get carried away. i COULD be scared of the dark if i let my mind race. and i had animal posters all over my room and i'd get scared the raccoon one would come to life and bite me and give me rabies (this was right after i saw old yeller).
other than that i was kind of a risk taking child. which explains the frequent trips to the doctor and the scars all over my elbows and knees.

Apparently my friend's mom (when I was about 4) was killed in a horrific car crash. Ever since then and even to this day, I've been scared of losing my parents. The funny thing is I don't remember the friend and that time frame. I just remember being intensely frightened by the prospect of loss that came after the event.
Way to go, mental block. You hit the event dead on but left me with irrational fear. 8/7/2008 4:52:12 PM |

^^^hahaha i did that with my closet. iw ould put pillows all in front of it so nothing could come out and get me at night.

i watched land of the lost, but don't remember being scared of dinosaurs at all.
i was scared of my closet. cliche i know, but shit was in there man! probably an evil monkey!
also our basement was finished except for this one long narrow part of it where spiders built a fortress. it was dark, there was only a single 60 watt bulb that poorly lit the room, and there was old junk piled everywhere. i dare not get near this room. we ended up renting the house out for like 15 years, and last year when we sold it i had to clean out what the renters left behind, which was disgusting. there was an old damp mildew covered mattress in there that wreaked. it was only slightly less scary than when i was a kid.

I caught Roger Corman's "Piranha" on television as a small kid. That movie scared the shit out of me. I was terrified of fish and water for I don't know how long.
I was also very afraid of the Boogey Man after watching Mr. Boogedy. My brother use to shout "Boogedy Boogedy Boo" and I would cry.

The dark scared me for the longest time. I wasn't scared of the Boogie Man, but my personal visualization was the beast from the late 80's show, "Beauty and the Beast". I thought it was bad ass that the Boogie Man had his own vehicle to broadcast his scariness.8/7/2008 5:10:23 PM |

Unsolved Mysteries was scary but I watched it anyway. Robert Stack was just creepy.
I was scared of being alone in any of the rooms in my family's beach house at night. I don't know why.
The song "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors used to scare me, so of course my brother would play it a lot.
When I was 7 my brother was watching Psycho, and I came in the room just at the moment when the guy finds Mrs. Bates in the basement and turns her around and it's a skeleton. I screamed and ran into the kitchen and latched onto my dad's leg.
I was a little freaked out by the headless mannequins in department stores. I remember having nightmares about them. 8/7/2008 5:20:47 PM |

The entire upstairs of my house. My bedroom was downstairs and my sisters' rooms were upstairs, so every time i had to go up there i got freaked out for some reason. I still have dreams about it being haunted. 8/7/2008 5:22:51 PM |

Two things I remember scared the shit out of me when I was 5 yrs. old.....those flying monkies in Wizard of Oz, and even though I remember my mother telling me not to watch any 'Nightmare on Elmstreet Movies' I remember sneaking into the living room after they fell asleep and turning on the tv...lets just say I learned my lesson b/c Freddy Kruegar scared the shit out of me as a 5 yr. old and I had bad dreams for like the next month...lesson learned!! hehe...
Now, however, I enjoy watching horror movies and I REALLY enjoy watching the good guys beat or atleast figure out how to beat the shit out of the bad guys!! 8/7/2008 5:41:19 PM |
