i don't discount law enforcement as an honorable occupation in many respects, but this just goes to show it's not the wild west style life risking prospect so many would have us to believe. 38 deaths in 48 years is nothing when you keep in mind the number of highway patrolmen employed in that period. arguably, only a handful of deaths can be directly attributed to the "protect" part of "protect and serve" too. i'm sure if you only considered officers actively out in the field the numbers are more impressive, but last i checked law enforcement in general struggles to crack the top 20 in terms of fatality rate compared to other professions.
i believe it's a tragedy any time an officer is killed while on duty, but it's an even greater tragedy that so many other deaths/murders go un recognized in occupations that provide services just as invaluable to our society. 8/9/2008 9:23:50 PM |

driving out of the mountains once i had a 18 wheeler in front of me, he was flying, and i kept up with him. he kept getting more and more into the other lane until a suv came up, which he caught their mirror and glass came exploding all over the windshield of my car. 8/13/2008 2:03:36 PM |

That is very hard to understand, do you mind clarifying who hit what and how/why the fuck an SUV "came up" in a lane that an 18 wheeler was it, etc? 8/13/2008 2:33:09 PM |
