bullshit. our shit goes out when it gets really cloudy and hell, even if it's just sprinkling. We have a "clear view of the southern sky" and it shows 100% signal. And the directv people were like "well, that kinda thing happens."

I'm working on getting ours setup. Had to get permission from the landlord to put a pole on the other side of this duplex. Now apparently there's one on the roof though, maybe I can get a better view from there.

fuck that. directv sucks donkey balls... the service sucked ass and the customer support people were fucking idiots. i switched back to twc because it's awesome compared to directv.

of course... this is just my honest opinion... i had a horrible experience with directv and have never lost service or had any problems with twc..

if you go through the directv thread i've laid out all the best savings there.

i pay $60 a month and my referrals haven't kicked in yet.

i have the sports package, hbo, showtime, starz, an hd dvr, an hd box, and a savings packet full of coupons. if you tie in the AAA discount with some other promotions you can get incredible deals.

directv >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> twc

i had twc for 8 years and i've had directv for 3 months and it is infinitely better than twc and MUCH less expensive.

i've gotten awesome customer service both times I had to call about billing issues.

as for the service, i have had it go out a couple times during bad storms, but other than that it's been perfect.

when I had TWC, i constantly had issues with my box freezing up and resetting. it happened at least once a day. they tried 5 different boxes and never got it fixed. I would just be watching a show, the picture would freeze, and the box would reset. plus the guides hardly ever worked right.

i love sports....thus, i could never see myself ever going back to cable

going to sports bars every single sunday to watch the Bears play....$20+/week
going to sports bars twice a week to watch ASU play basketball....$30+/week
having DTV and being able to watch the games on my couch, not having to worry about a cab home, and being able to drink cheap/cold beer....PRICELESS

exactly my story. they sent a lead out because i lost signal twice in one week for more than 10 minutes each time. he replaced my LNB and it's been flawless ever since. the service with directv can't even be compared to waiting forever to get idiots at twc.

i mean this isn't even a fair comparison folks.

Now I'm just waiting on the installer to respond to my voicemail. Can't wait for 200++ channels. Basic cable through Suddenlink is 45 dollars. Total HD/DVR/Inet/Taxes was 128+. That was just for Starz and a handful of other HD channels.

I'm sticking with them for internet though 29.99 for 8mbit.

i kept twc for internets. smoothcrim was telling me that you can get earthlink through twc and keep your "roadrunner equipment" and the only thing you lose is the nc.rr.com email address, which i don't even use and it's even cheaper than roadrunner.

i'd say that I miss all the On Demand channels from TWC, but that shit never worked right for me either. Nothing worse than being halfway through a Sopranos episode only to have the shit freeze and the box shut off.

go to channel 1000...there are more On Demand channels than TWC and it takes about 2 minutes until you can start watching, so queue things up.

i get that OTA in HD. if you have a tv with a tuner you can probably get that without TWC or DirecTv

Directv has awesome olympic coverage. 750 and up are the channels and you can view medal counts and all kinds of stuff in real time. I'm watching horses jump around a golf course now haha.

DTV also loves golf

continuous coverage from Amen Corner was great and so was getting to watch the featured pairings this past weekend

this statement is wrong in so many ways

i've had both (for considerable lengths of time) and can safely say directv is far superior in every aspect

also 750-755 for the olympics has additional LIVE ONLY coverage when there are multiple things going on at the same time. boxing seems to be non-stop.
