i have a factory dodge cd player from '01 that has a problem with cd-r playback. anyone have any suggestions of a certain brand that might work, or a diff way to burn em? don't really want to replace it.
thanks 8/17/2008 9:36:39 AM |

My 2004 factory dodge cd player is a piece of shit too btw. It will randomly decide not to eject cd's for a while, it's always done it but it only happens a few times a year at most. 8/17/2008 10:16:36 AM |

they are all different. you have to try a bunch of different types/models. either that or use GOOGLE. 8/17/2008 12:02:55 PM |

a lot of stock CD players can't play CD-R's. My 2000 Wrangler stock HU couldn't really play them. It would play some of them, some of the time. It seemed completely random.
I'm not sure that there is a certain brand CD-R or burning speed/program that allows these HU's to play them. I think it's just if your HU decides to play it or not, as my experience showed me that it was completely random.
Time to buy a new HU.
sometimes I would start hitting the forward and skip buttons as soon as I put the cd in, and sometimes it would eventually work. you just can't hit any buttons after it starts playing

I will sell you a cheap head unit that plays cdr's, mp3 cds, etc etc and when you aren't using it, puts the face inside and just looks like a piece of plastic automatically 8/17/2008 1:48:56 PM |

my stock unit has a hard timeplaying some cd-r's. verbatim's work for me and some REALLY cheap compusa ones, but others suck for some reason.
you have to find a disk with high reflectivity, otherwise the stock laser is too weak to read the signals.
got it? 8/17/2008 5:38:45 PM |
