8/20/2008 1:04:47 PM
ahhhh in that case, i'd be fairly sure the M is for midazolam, not morphine]
8/20/2008 1:06:32 PM

8/20/2008 1:11:59 PM
no no noB52 cocktail5 of haldol 2 of ativanor you can dail into 25.2 FM25 fentanyl with 2 of midazolamand dont forget the clonazepam
8/20/2008 1:14:45 PM
haha nice i never heard of those. but you gotta love it when they give 10 or more of haldol in the ED to a naive pt, and then leave you to deal with acute dystonia for hours
8/20/2008 1:26:26 PM
Isn't Lorazepam the generic for Ativan?...
8/20/2008 1:28:01 PM
yes
8/20/2008 1:29:56 PM
^^thats better than the patients that got paralyzed and intubated due to either vomiting or aggressive behavior.
8/20/2008 1:45:50 PM
how do you people get all these pills?i tear my hamstring to the point that i can't hardly even sit down, forget walk, and all i got was a compression sock. And how bout when i had part of my ear ripped off? or stress fracture in my foot? not a daaaamn thingand some of yall are running around with legal scripts of 100+ pills...
8/20/2008 3:24:28 PM
they are fucking pill popping druggies...druggies know how to get their drugs yo
8/20/2008 3:25:10 PM
i mean, i used to do my share of "not so legal" shit, but pills were never really around
8/20/2008 3:26:01 PM
I'm not telling anyone what to do, just be careful.
8/20/2008 3:29:05 PM
biofreak, I've had surgery and got some then. Otherwise, you will not understand but I have menstrual cramps so bad I literally can't stand up. Motrin doesn't do a damn thing. Seriously, my doc thought I was lying until I told her I didn't take motrin because I'd tried a double dose and didn't even feel it. Is very annoying. I try not to go to work after taking one of the pills, I ALWAS screw myself by agreeing to do to much shit because I feel like I can do anything.
8/20/2008 3:37:58 PM
i prefer clonazepam i would also like to get my script refilled already jesus[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 3:40 PM. Reason : the pills in this thread arent pain relievers][Edited on August 20, 2008 at 3:41 PM. Reason : except fentanyl, but that`s a patch ]
8/20/2008 3:39:59 PM
not a pill popping druggie...im a pill pusherwell most of what i push is IVfor "moderate sedation"although several noteworthy TWWers would benefit GREATLY from some haldol[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 3:45 PM. Reason : wish we could put it their well water][Edited on August 20, 2008 at 3:47 PM. Reason : fentanyl also comes IV in the hosptitals]
8/20/2008 3:44:17 PM
are you in a psych ward or whati prefer to be sedated with dilaudid
8/20/2008 3:46:44 PM
neuro...........but the unit gets its fair share of crazycouple of cases that appeared to be catatonic schizophreniabut ended up being this: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/556305chicks would be chill one minute, catatonic another minute and trying to choke you the next minutefun times!and we dont use dilaudid for sedation...........spinal post op analgesia yes, sedation no.... the half life of dilaudid is too long to be used for sedation purposes.fentanyl and versed are potent, but have nice short half lives.if dilaudid were used as sedation, it would suppress folks' respiratory drive too much and narcan is a shitty way to wake up.
8/20/2008 3:51:59 PM
eh, i spoke for myself, not your patients personally, waking up isn`t one of my top priorities
8/20/2008 3:56:11 PM
am i a noteworthy wolfwebber? please tell me i am...i would like to be...i try to be sometimes

^3 sounds kinda sad [Edited on August 20, 2008 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ^ ehee]
8/20/2008 4:01:14 PM
one patient my ex-gf had kept on and on asking for more diluaid, they told her they couldn't give her anymore without just basically knocking her out and putting a tube down her throat.. she had had it done before and knew how painful it was and still wanted it..they wouldnt do it or anything but damn. gotta be pretty fucked up in the head to want that
8/20/2008 4:03:04 PM
^ i believe it.not fucked up.............people with chronic pain that have been on narcotics for a long time require huge amounts of dilaudid after some surgeries.in fact, if i have to have spinal surgery i will be pissed to the highest level of pissitivity if i am extubated immediately after my surgery.....i want to spend the night in the icu intubated and sedated while they get my initial pain under some sort of control.
