Also, if you are going to jump on a bandwagon you might want to at least have a clue as to which one you are jumping aboard. By that I mean if you intend to somehow show that the earth is getting cooler then by all means be my guest but I believe what you are looking for is evidence that humans are in no way responsible for their actions pertaining to climate change.
*edit* Your intent may be quite the opposite of my implications. If they are then I apologize. I, on occasion, like to read what the "other side" has to say just to see what that the dense and obtuse population is alive and sad to say well.

might i suggest utilizing more professional sources, like scientific papers, articles, or journals? or at least government/educational sites?
but hey, http://www.globalwarmingisaninventionofthecommunists.com/ might have some good info, too
also, "global warming" is a misnomer...try to be realistic and use something valid like "global climate destabilization"

^^ you're welcome! though, if anything, i put text in your post, not words in your mouth
i find it amusing how worked up people get over this
the climate is destabilizing as a result of anthropogenic activities, the end...if you disagree, i respect your opinion, but you're still wrong...it's scary, i agree, and i don't blame the skeptics for being afraid, but at some point i expect they'll have to grow up and face reality...i won't even say "told you so"

^^^^^ You are so ignorant that you should be ashamed of it. You've bought the "scientific consensus" bullshit hook, line, and sinker. Too bad. I don't recall science ever saying "hey, there's a consensus, ok?" and that being valid. But hey, politicians will say that all the time.
Quote : | "By that I mean if you intend to somehow show that the earth is getting cooler" |
Well, considering that, since 2001, it HAS gotten cooler, I'd say that's not too far fetched. But hey, what do I know... Let's just ask the three major reputable temperature records for proof of that.
BTW, here are some good sources for you, and they are reputable.

i spent nearly two months in sweden, north of the arctic circle, taking measurements, core samples, and making calculations
over the past 10 years, the permafrost has been depleted extensively, to a point unparalleled in knowable (at the moment) geological history...in the summer, what used to be frozen just 3-4 inches down is mush, and the amount of methane gas being released from the decomposition of thousands of square kilometers of bog is staggering...mosquitoes run rampant with no natural enemies at that particular latitude, the treeline is changing drastically, and there are numerable of unique species on the verge of extinction due to numbers that have fallen, increasingly and rampant, over the past 20 years
it's entirely possible it has nothing to do with a rapid and unbuffered change in global climate due anthropogenic activities...it could also be UFOs or because little boys touch themselves at night
in the meantime, i'll take my phd research and the effects i've seen with my own eyes against a random assortment of links you post, k?8/21/2008 10:46:24 PM |

first of all, REALLY bad analogy because it isn't even close to being that minimal. second of all, that is a shitty stance to take. unimportant? typical conservative response. "well, it isn't going to cause problems in my lifetime, so why should I give a shit?" yeah, you are right. who gives a shit about your great great grandkids, you'll be long gone before they have stay indoors due to unbearable ozone depletion.8/21/2008 10:53:09 PM |
aaronburro Sup, B 53049 Posts user info edit post |
^ ummm, no, it's unimportant because it is having NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER in comparison to the REAL DRIVERS OF OUR CLIMATE. this has nothing to do w/ "it won't affect me right now." This is "it will never affect me because it doesn't exist."
^^ hey, feel free to enlighten us. I'd love to hear some actual evidence for the AGW argument at this point, because it's all been shot down, especially within the past couple months. THe sad part is, the American media is so hyped up to sell green shit to everyone now that we won't ever hear about it until the polar bears are in fucking florida.] 8/21/2008 10:56:53 PM |

My only point is, you can argue the science of GW all you want. Trust me, I have a science related degree so I have done the research, and I understand both sides. And you can throw out all the political buzz phrases like "Al Gore" to fire everyone up all you want to make it a political issue. But the fact remains that there are things that you can do every day that cost you nothing, cause no inconvenience to you, and MOST LIKELY will make life better for future generations. So, I ask you, why not make a few minor changes in your lifestyle that JUST MIGHT have an effect down the road?
I know it is hard for Republicans to think about the future, but you can't argue with common sense. 8/21/2008 11:03:33 PM |
aaronburro Sup, B 53049 Posts user info edit post |
^ that's a great argument for conserving on an individual level. It's a horrible argument, though, for wrecking our entire economy in the name of an imaginary boogey-man such as AGW. I have nothing against conserving energy. I do it myself. 8/21/2008 11:06:47 PM |
