Holy fuck there are some smart people in NC these days.

First that crap in the news the other day about a 12 year old shooting an 11 year old (wounding, not killing him) with an AK-47 civilian version that was not secured by his father, and now we have a man that fucking kills himself on a butcher knife while trying to save the kids.

If you're willing to pry the window open (which will probably break shit), why not just kick the window in on the driver's side and unlock the rest of the car. This is Darwinism at its finest.

okay so explain the sequencing...
they "dropped by their apartment briefly before planning an errand"...so they come from somewhere else with their kids in the car, lock the doors & (hopefully) leave the car running.

they get out of the car and realize that they've locked the doors. i guess they could have a 2nd set of keys with just their apt key on it...this just doesn't make sense!!

i just think that by the time you have a second kid, you'd remember not to lock them in the car alone AT ALL. just like you don't leave your kids by themselves in any other public, dangerous place.
