Seriously, what the hell is up with all the idiots this year in the parking deck. Every time I leave the Reynold's deck there's at least two people who drive the wrong way on a one-way section. Today as I was leaving (line of about 4 cars following me out), three people turned up the wrong way on the main ramp.

I guess it's time for a short lesson for those people. Folks, it's pretty easy to find your way through the parking decks on campus.

1: The one-way areas have angled parking spots on both sides that are angled so that you can not pull into them while driving forward if you are going the wrong way.
2. The one-way areas have big white arrows on the ground spaced about 30-50 ft apart, including at intersections, that show which way traffic should flow.
3. Two-way areas in these parking decks will have perpendicular parking spots and the through traffic area will be wider than it is in the one-way areas (by about five feet).
4. The two-way areas also have the same big white arrows pointing in both directions so you know you're in the right spot.

So please, figure the god damn system out before one of you asshats plows into a car while trying to find a parking spot.

Has anybody else seen this just about every time they're in the deck or am I just nuts?

nah, not just freshmen

last fall, some jackass in a massive SUV decided to come the wrong way down a one-way lane in the paylot section of the dan allen deck...where space is already kind of tight.

He looked to be a senior, and of course, was on the cell.

Thank god he was going slowly, or else he'd have smashed me head on. As it was, I had to sideswipe a column to miss him, since someone was behind me.

Oh, and he kept going the wrong way.

^ Yeah, exactly. Those three people did it about 6-7 seconds apart, so I had to swerve to the side and nail on the brakes three different times. I was amazed that they didn't hit anybody going up that ramp.

see there's the problem faghats like yall letting them by all the time, you need to stop your car in the middle of the lane, get out, drag them out of their vehicle, and pound their face repeatedly into the white arrow and yell "you're going the wrong way mother fucker"

what amazes me is the number of ppl on tww in all these driving threads are the ones who have numerous accidents because of other people's stupidity. so dude going the wrong way was on his cell, but moving slowly...you still had to sideswipe a pillar? how fucking fast were you going?

5? 10?

I was coming up to the intersection, looking left (the way traffic was SUPPOSED to be coming from) when I heard an engine to the right (WTF MATE)

What amazes me is how many TWWers assume the worst of other TWWers. Oh, wait...I do it too

To be fair, I'd rather be the one knocking pillars askew (not a load-bearing one...one to keep people off the walkway) than the jackass in an expedition (or some other obnoxiously large SUV) yakking on a cell going the wrong way down a one-way aisle. Whether I could have done anything better or not: I'm still not the one proceeding the wrong way down a one-way aisle. Automatic "win" (in concept )

I hate when people park their car 2 inches from my driver's side door so I have to crawl in the passenger side!!!!!!!! That's happened to me several times! I always make a point to slam my door into their side before I leave.

I swear they oversold the DC passes this year, or everyone is using the Reynolds deck at the same time of day

I have made that mistake twice for some reason. Thank goodness no one was coming from the other direction. I get to school at about 10:00am and there is plenty of room on the 4th level of the Reynolds deck.

They do oversell the DC deck I think. Parking is generally not that big a deal though. Just go to the new section of the parking deck on the southern end and travel all the way to the 5th level. There's almost always a spot or two on the tallest level of that deck.

When I went through the DC Coliseum parking deck to get around some construction on the first day of classes this orange vested "PARKING" fag went NUTS. He saw that my sticker wasn't a DC sticker and he started screaming at me and tried to run out in front of my car to prevent me from even driving into the parking deck.

I simply went around him and kept fucking going. What kind of stupid fuck tries to stop a moving vehicle by jumping out in front of it? He chased after me screaming "HEY!!! HEY!!! HEY!!." He read my license plate while running after my car and got on his radio to report me to the transportation fags so they could come find my car and give me a ticket. Of course, I ignored his retarded ass and drove to the exit on the other side of the deck and left, just like I had planned all along. I actually saw a white transportation car with the little orange lights on top come flying into the parking deck at an entrance further down the street as I left. I hope they wasted 20 minutes trying to find my car, those people have a seriously false sense of authority.

I'm glad they are doing something about it though. There were fucking no spots in the deck this afternoon around 1130, 12 today, even in the 5th floor addition, and a TON of cars driving around trying to find a spot. I lucked out by finding a person pulling out of their spot. It sucks too, because that's

Can DC only park in the Reynolds Colesium deck and the deck at Centennial? I'd hate to have to keep patrolling the deck waiting for someone to pull out...maybe i can just stalk a pedestrian on the way to their car

This really has become a bigger issue this year, every day I've gone to class I always end up parking on the very top of the deck on the 4th or 5th outdoor level, and it definitely blows. Maybe they oversold the deck a little too much, maybe that's how they can afford those largely useless traffic people that loiter around all day....

And today I also saw about three jerkoffs in a row coming the wrong way up a one way ramp on the deck, luckily I hadn't turned down it yet and just stopped to let them out, but that shit pissed me off, because they looked like they didn't even notice they were going the wrong way, I got a look like what are you doing trying to turn down this ramp?

Assholes.

^I have an 11:20 class MWF, and the deck is almost completely full, until you get to the 5th level. There's still somewhat limited space there. Last year, I never had to park above the 2nd level. I did have a 10:15 then though.

The traffic guys don't do much, the only thing they did helpful was to stop traffic and let people out of the deck a little more efficiently.

How does "I have to park on the top level and I don't like it" equal "they oversold the deck"?

The parking deck is a giant pain in the ass. I've never had a problem before but this year I've spent 5-10 minutes driving around looking for a spot in the deck. It's completely full. Most days 5 is full and I have to come back down and stalk some poor kid while they are getting in their car.

I think they oversold the shit out of it. Plus the people that drive through the deck dont stop at "intersections" when coming up/down a ramp and almost T-bone you if you are passing by.

I wouldn't be so pissed if I didn't already pay $300 for the permit.

^^ummm besides the fact I've never had to in years past, and people on here always say that they oversell the deck as a rule you mean? today I got literally one of the last spots on the top, just a missed traffic light longer and I might have been circling for who knows how long.

when I came back to leave about two hours later I saw like 5-10 cars just circling the upper levels and one dude was cursing up a storm out the window

Maybe it's just seems worse because my schedule is different this year, I dunno, or maybe gotten spoiled with most of my time being spent in the much lighter centennial deck

That was probably me, lol. I was pissed as hell. I circled the deck top to bottom two times and the parking spots I was finding were next to damn morons who park their cars all angle-fucked-up-wise. There was no way I could get my truck in some of those spots.

I was seriously about to just park in one and then just open my car door at full speed into theirs. Finally found a spot on the top level in the far back corner after I stalked a kid up a ramp.

Anyone know of the right person to send a complain to at Transportation? I'm thinking about just cc'ing the entire list.

This is one of the few good reasons I liked about having my old ass gas guzzling truck. I would just sit there blocking the lanes with a guy trying to go by me the wrong way until about 5 cars came up behind me going the right way.

Yeah, I have a very narrow, compact SUV (jeep cherokee). It's about as narrow as a honda civic (maybe more narrow?). I couldn't stop those folks if i wanted to. If I stop in the middle of it, most cars could still weasel around me (and they did, driving along like they weren't doing fuckall of anything wrong, just like WolfAce said). I just want traffic people to keep an eye in the deck and issue tickets on the spot when people do shit like that. If they had people standing at the top of two of the ramps and just stopped cars that went up the wrong way, scanned their pass, and digitally issued a ticket against that vehicle it would certainly bring a quick end to the problem.

Some fucking DO NOT ENTER signs might also be in order. Context clues don't work for everybody, but big ugly signs work for a lot of people...

Hey fucktards:

If you keep flying around corners in the deck without looking where you're going, you're gonna get in a wreck eventually. And then traffic in there will be REALLY fucked up.

Just BTTTing this. Also, turn on your headlights in the parking decks.
