I realize this could be tech talk appropriate, but chit chat will get more replies.
My satellite just got installed friday and it cuts off (only hd) frequently with any sort of rain... sprinkle included.

I went to the signal strength page with the transponder info and i got info like this...

Satellite 101degrees tuner 1
averages 95% signal with only one 0%

Satellite 103degrees(c) tuner 1
averages 63 (60 low 68 high) with 14 0's

Satellite 103degrees(s) tuner 1
averages 33 (21 low 58 high) 27 0's

Satellite 99degrees(s) tuner 1
averages 0 nuff said

Satellite 99degrees(c) tuner 1
averages 60 (low56 high 65) 18 0's

Satellite 119degrees tuner 1
averages 55 (47 low 65 high) 23 0's

110 tuner 1
averages 75 only 3 signals

what does all this stuff mean? I don't know this stuff at all, i just want to be more informed before i just start calling the people that installed my dish (contracted people through my apartment)

do you keep losing picture or anything? i mean, why are you looking at the transponder info?

95% is pretty damn good

welcome to directv. lol. we have nearly perfect signal and it was professionally installed and it cuts out if it gets really cloudy or sprinkles. There can be a monsoon outside though and there's a 95% chance it'll work perfectly fine though. Called the support people and they were like "yeah, that happens". *carl face*

do you have clear line of sight all around?

most dishes aren't setup properly. you need to have a real pro check out the alignment.

^ well, i have no idea.

supposedly the dish is set up in an area with good los. here at the apt. they have 1 dish per building, so i would think they putt it where it needs to be.

Is it worth a call?

call them---
they can tell you the different amounts of zeros that are allowable
Your dish may have been hit or moved just slightly...that will cause major problems.

Be ready to pay $70-$100 for a house visit unless you just got it installed

Couldn't post this last night...

Make sure the dish is plumb, there should be a bubble level in the top of the mast, if not, fix it. Also, make sure your receiver has the BBC's installed between the coax and the receiver (2 grey or black boxes). I'm assuming you have the Slimline dish which is fairly easy to line up, if the mast is plumb.
