From todays wral news brief:

This year, for middle school, 77 percent of students in each group had to pass. The more diverse a school is, the more groups there are to test.

"It's just one way to measure the school, but it's not the end-all, be-all of how to judge your school," said parent Patty Dutcher, whose children are enrolled at Zebulon Elementary School.

Despite huge gains, Zebulon Elementary did not pass No Child Left Behind.

Dhedra Cross likes the data, she says, "to help us keep our attention on groups that it would, perhaps, be easy to overlook."

I dont know why they call it no child left behind. Im pretty sure the picture explains it all:

People get pulled by there if that's the school off of 96 highway all the damn time. For a while they didn't have any school signs up and the 55 mph speed limit dropped to 45 without a sign. I caught on after a few beer runs and would run my shit all the way down to 42-43ish.

One time I was picked up and taken to a wedding in Selma, and my apprenticeship boss lady took me by the speed zone around 60 (she's always running a little late). I kept my eyes closed (veering) and my fingers crossed (police) the entire time until she ran up against a tractor and then cursed until she was blue in the face.

the whole no child left behind shit hinges on the assumption that every child can/will learn shit, which is completely bogus

dumb kids/kids who don't put forth some effort get to become burger flippers and life goes on

the sooner folks realize that some people are smarter/have more drive than others the sooner bullshit like this ends

no, it's a "you better not let these kids fail this test that we have decided indicates whether or not they have been left behind test"

my teachers focused more on teaching us how to take EOG tests than they did on actually teaching the material. you know how to answer specific types of questions, not how to really take a general knowledge of a subject and apply it to various situations.
