Funny, surprising, well-hidden aspect of a picture... for example, black-guy-in-window, klansman-in-band, and guy-with-dick-out-in-background.

Shitty mindfucks:
Reflections that may or may not exist, items that were obviously photoshopped into a normal picture for the sake of a mindfuck, something obvious that really isn't surprising or meaningful (omg the camera flash in that glass looks like eyes omg!), or things that really aren't even mindfucks at all (something slightly out of place is obviously sitting in the foreground)

"meh" mindfucks:
Aspects of a picture that obviously are not real or would not exist in a "real" photo... for example, t-rex-in-the-fog and fetus-outline-in-trees.

Almost all the mindfucks with some emo girl in the foreground classify as "shitty". They're usually badly-made and just involve some idiot making an uninteresting mindfuck out of a myspace photo.



Another good criteria:
If it's like a "Where's Waldo", in which you know there is something to look for and you can easily tell when you find it, it's probably a pretty good mindfuck.

If it gets a reaction of "I see a few slightly odd things here but I can't tell if they're actually what I'm trying to find", it's probably shitty.
