people keep talking about "high level cabinet positions" for Clinton... but what would she even accept?

Sec of State? very doubtful, IMO... that's just a mouthpiece for the president, and all you do is go around gladhanding foreign heads of state... not really her style, and it wouldn't be historical: Madeline Albright already pioneered that path, and Condi Rice has made it seem almost mundane.

Attorney General? doubt that too. she's qualified, but i dont think being "top cop" is her thing either. it wouldnt be an historical first either: there'd always be the inevitable comparisons to Janet Reno.

Health and Human Services? that would be more her style (health care) but the position hardly commands any real power for creating the sweeping changes that she'd want to architect.

Some newly created position, just for her? like "Health Care Czar" or something like that? A position of real power where she would be the architect of the new healthcare changes she's advocated for decades? would she want such a job, or take it if offered?

or would she just remain: Senior Senator from New York and become an icon of the Dem Party, perhaps rising to President (or Minority Leader) of the Senate and establishing her prominence there for life. Or perhaps becoming a chief Democratic critic of the Obama Administration and mounting another campaign in 2012? But if Obama is successful, she'd have to wait until 2016! ... that's an awfully long time and a lot of unknowns. she'd be almost 70 years old in 8 years.

my favorite choice: US Supreme Court Justice. it seems like a perfect spot. she's completely qualified, and nothing would gall the conservative Repugnicans more than that. it would also remove the potential of her being a competitor against Obama in 4 years. but it wouldn't be a "first"... O'connor and Ginsberg have already been-there-done-that. her position there wouldnt be historical in any sense, and John Roberts will always outrank her and likely outlive her. it'd be an awesome role, but one kind of relegated to the back pages, most of the time. i'm not sure if it's something she would want.

She's got my vote if we both live to 2116.

In all seriousness I think she could be most effective and prominent following the Ted Kennedy model as a major player in the Senate.

I think liberal lion of the Senate as a successor to what Ted Kennedy has been is a serious option for her, but I think the US Supreme Court Justice position would be an excellent juxtaposition to McCain's VP pick. Choosing a woman for VP who is against a lot of women's rights, or choosing a President & Vice President who support women's rights who would put Hillary into a position where she could protect them would make it clear which party stands for what.

what makes you think Bill is gonna be big in the campaign knowing that he won't be living in the White House whereas he might be after 2012?

he's lived in the white house and experienced presidential power before...for 8 years...if hillary got elected, he would again get to live in the white house and have the ear of the president, his wife...with obama he gets none of that

have you learned nothing of how relentless and power hungry the clintons are? sure they both endorsed barack, anything else would fuck the party as a whole, but i think they've got their eyes on 2012 if mccain wins, or 2016 if obama wins

I don't think she's got to worry about a cabinet position because for that to happen Obama would have to be elected.

They may go Hillary '12 or '16 but not at the expense of not promoting a democrat win this election. He'll campaign for him, whether or not he really likes him.

Plus, I don't see Ole Bill turning down any open bar charity event with young interns running around...

lol at the interns aspect

i definitely think they want to promote a democrat, but i look at it like this

if obama wins, hillary gets a place in the administration, probably bill too, regardless of who wins in 2012, obama will be Dem incumbant candidate, Hillary waits 8 years to run

if mccain wins, hillary goes ahead and starts planning for 2012, doesnt have current admin position, but actually gets to be the Dem frontrunner in 2012, 4 whole years earlier

wouldnt shock me

I guess....I just don't think he's really interested in it that much anymore.

I don't really see him taking any administrative position in Obama's campaign either.

The Clinton Foundation keeps him pretty busy....not to mention his speaking events, but they are the clintons...who knows what they'll do

Obama needs to have Biden commit suicide and fast, maybe a family emergency, a disease or something else that gets him off the ticket...getting Hillary on it is his only hope to have any chance at McCain-Palin.

oh and if you want details, his entire division has been called home and won't be returning. god, and to think i would expect a fellow liberal to know a damn thing about our military. WRONG AGAIN.

so take your 100 year war horseshit and every other talking point from defenderofthecocksuckermovement.com and shove it up your ass.

^ there are 5 SCJs who will be over 70 years old when the new pres is sworn in.

2 of them, Stevens and Kennedy, are widely expected to resign some time within the new pres' first administration.

there very well may be more. but it think it's definite that there will be at least 2.
