Republicans who believe that you're being disloyal to the party if you're against the war. That criticizing this administration and its stupid war(S) is unpatriotic.
You know what I hate more, Democrats or fake liberals (or am I repeating myself) who believe that obama will solve all our problems. It's not gonna happen. He wanna send more troops to afghanistan and believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, and the security of israel = war on iran. 8/31/2008 6:26:39 PM |

Every US presidential candidate has to say that if they want to have a shot at the Presidency, whether they believe it or not. This is a truth that everybody knows. Criticism (even justified) of Israel or its policies is career-cide, reputation-cide, and mental-health-cide for anybody on the public stage including politicians, actors, activists, religious leaders, intellectuals, writers, athletes, etc.
What do you think they (presidential candidates) should say when addressing AIPAC? "Palestinians are victims of Israel, and Israel should GTFO of their territory"?
Funnily enough, Obama did say something along those lines, but after the outrage from Zionists in the US and abroad, he qualified his comments into something he did not originally mean
And just because McCain hasn't said the words above that I quoted about the security of Israel (hasn't he?), doesn't mean that he doesn't believe it or won't act on it.
Regardless of who the US President is for at least the next 50-100 years, s/he has no choice when it comes to Israel. They can mildly "condemn" the settlements, request them to come back to the negotiating table, etc., but they have to be committed to the security of Israel regardless of Israel's actions, whether they want to or not (till today, all have wanted to). Because when it comes to Israel, the strings are being pulled from behind the President, by his/her cabinet (Bush's cabinet contains some of the most hard-core Zionists ever, and they are the ones who were busy orchestrating the attack on Iraq as back as 1999), by the Senators, and the Representatives.8/31/2008 7:20:40 PM |

what I cant really understand is how the mossad has almost all the pentagon and cia secrets, that some high ranking members in these 2 "organizations" are not supposed to know. It is really shocking to me that when israel lost in '73 they asked nixon for weapons and tanks. They gave them tanks from the inventory of US military straight of production lines!!! (and there is a lot more I can't stand but this what I remember off the top of my head)
back to the topic.
Why is it always has to be the lesser of 2 evils? what about 3rd party candidates?

1025 / 1000 = 1.025
feelin pretty safe now, noob?
but the above posters are right.... Obama had some very pointed criticisms of Israel early on in the campaign, and he was called on it, and immediately revised his comments into an about-face.
if he has any of the Black Liberation Theology teachings from Trinity United Methodist Church in Chicago left in him, this criticsim of Israeli policies would be right in line.
i think he changed his public stance because he KNOWS that it is indeed political suicide to get on the wrong side of AIPAC in any sort of campaign.
its going to be interesting to see when he becomes Pres how this pans out.
