If you're purchasing a dell laptop in the coming days I'll give you $150 to order a mini with it for me. That's basically $50 for doing nothing. 9/4/2008 10:42:34 AM |

FYI...currently you can order 5 with select laptops
Tons of people from slickdeals/fatwallet are ordering 5. The orders will likely get cancelled, but if they don't you will likely be able to get one for $150 off ebay. 9/4/2008 7:08:46 PM |

Why are so many people obsessed with thinkpads?
I was super pissed with I first heard about the mini for $99 with a laptop. I just got my Studio 17 last week, but luckily I don't have to punch myself because the studio 17 isn't included in the promo.
Heres a couple threads about the deal on slickdeals: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=914383 http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=913766
I thinking about ordering 6 laptops myself lol. 9/4/2008 7:24:43 PM |

My dad has always been a computer 'fix-it' guy on the side since he worked for a computer contract company. Invariably I've called customer service for almost every known brand; eMachine, Dell, HP, Gateway, Acer, IBM. From those experiences the only company I don't cringe to call is IBM. Their machines (desktop and laptop) have always been reliable, well built, and have lasted.
Plus my dad was treated very poorly working for Dell in Winston Salem. They would ask him to work 12 hour days mon/tue/wed, then call him @ 5AM on thursday and tell him to not come in because they didn't have any orders, and cap it all off with a half day on friday so they didn't have to pay him any overtime. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. I would have at least 2 Dell monitors because I like their connectivity options, but I can't bring myself to do it.
BUT. For a $300 savings, I can keep it hidden.
And it's an S10, not 61 (the 61 is the desktop :beatup 9/4/2008 7:38:08 PM |

My studio 17 was my first purchase with dell and I have to say the customer service was better than almost any company I have experience with.
My order wasn't supposed to ship for weeks. I emailed support(I never had to pickup the phone!). Support responded fairly quickly and informed me my order had been expedited.
The same support rep checked in with me via email both when the order shipped and when I received it. Which in my opinion was above and beyond what was necessary. 9/4/2008 8:20:23 PM |

Shit if I had seen this I would have jumped on it... twice. Then sold everything but 1 mini. 9/4/2008 9:10:48 PM |

Its back...sort of.
Dell has fixed the glitch though. You have to buy one of 3 overpriced laptops in order to get 1 Mini. 9/5/2008 10:23:08 AM |
