...that's left after you've lost a lot of weight? Granted I still need to lose about 25 lbs.

this is a big problem for people that have gastric bypass, and often the only thing you can do about it is cosmetic surgery. chances are that you're not gonna be able to add enough muscle mass to "fill out" again

skin never shrinks (seriously)...once it's there, it stays like that forever

^ you got anything to back that up? or can anyone confirm?

Professional bodybuilders put on a good bit of weight in the offseason, and then cut it during competitions. They don't seem to have a lot of excess skin hanging.

I personally have lost as much as 30 pounds, maybe a little more in the past and didn't have any loose skin.

Now i agree, there's a certain point where you're just going to be stuck with excess skin, especially if you loose a lot of weight fast.

But sorry, aside from surgery.. i don't know what you would do about that.

it depends on your age and how much excess skin there is, but if it does shrink, it's not gonna be a lot

^^ i'm sorry, it's not quite true...only slow/gradual weight loss/gain results in tight(er) skin...rapid loss/gain ruins the elasticity

^ yeah...the skin itself doesn't actually shrink, grow...it stretches and after a certain age and/or weight gain/loss rate, it won't matter

in order to get rid of that "extra" skin, you must eat more. Lot's more.

After an extended period of time (years) stretched out skin will lose its elasticity and thus, its ability to tighten up after weight loss. Professional bodybuilders put on weight in the off season however, their off season is only a few months out of the year-- its not the same as someone who is obese or overweight for years. This is a really common problem-- a lot of folks end up seeking cosmetic surgery to have it "fixed". If you are truly losing 25lbs+ of fat (not lean muscle tissue) then I would suspect you'd need to consider surgical options if you want to get a real tight/toned core. More importantly though, be proud of your healthy body and lifestyle =)

Fuck cosmetic surgery. Ain't got dem kinda bux. And seeing as how I am an old fart, I guess I'm skrood.

I dunno if you would call it healthier, since I seem to have re-established this bad habit called smoking.
