For buying and selling. Success? Scary? Big Risk?

What about services that do not have anything to do with sex?

aha

i always end up buying stuff from raleigh yankees (ie. the canoe i bought from the hippie lady). they always seemed surprised when i show up. i think it's because i'm a redneck who uses punctuation and doesn't use caps lock in his emails.

i had 1 lady that kept calling me over and over again, each time she called, she acted like she hadn't called me before. she asked the same questions every time and never committed to buy. it finally got to the point where if she was gonna call again, i was gonna tell her to fuck off, but she never called again.

i bought the item here and sold it there for a profit of $25. w00t.

When selling, if people try to low ball you:
1) accept their offer
2) tell them to meet you some place
3) don't show up
4) profit

I've bought/sold probably 800-1000 items on craigslist. Never met anyone I'd really describe as creepy. In fact, I'd describe most of them as pretty cool.

Girls sometimes don't want to meet at their apartment, so fast food restaurants make good meeting places. Personally, I don't care if people know where I live.

Of course, when it comes to large amounts of cash, the usual precautions apply. Just take a friend with you and you'll be fine. Don't accept checks without photocopying tons of ID...eh, just don't take checks.

----------------------
Oh, I don't put phone numbers in the ads, but I do reply by email with a phone number ASAP and I give preference to people that I actually talk to on the phone. I've found that people who are afraid to use a telephone are probably too lazy to come pick something up anyway.

----------------------
Also, to the asshole up there...lowballing is often the first step in haggling. Haggling is how adults do business. Both you and the buyer have the same goal: to make a transaction that you are both satisfied with. Instead of blowing someone off, you could have used that as an opportunity to start a real negotiation that led to a successful sale.

some fucker just flagged one of my posts and it was removed

no reason whatsoever - it's not a duplicate, it's not profane (it's just selling some RAM), and it's not bogus...i SUSPECT it happened because of the guy who sent me half a dozen emails wanted to make sure i didn't have any other offers, but i don't know for sure

fuckers
