I searched all day at 7 stores. I need one asap to get my car off jack stands at my parents' house. I tried a hammer and pickle fork already and the stud won't budge.

A rubber mallet will simply not do shit.

It absorbs too much of the impulse that you need to transfer to the joint/control arm interface.

If the thing wasn't aluminum, I'd hit it directly, perpendicular to the ball joint taper section. I have a complete set of pickle forks, including an air hammer attachment, and it's seldom that I even use the damn things. If the control arm is forged steel, then my BFH and a good (and I mean GOOD) whack takes care of things. If you spray with PB Blaster and let soak overnight, then things get easier.

are you replacing ball joint or what? if so thread nut on up side down on ball joint and hit the nut with the hammer. spay some motivational blaster (wd-40/PB blaster) and it will come out. i highley doubt you will have to heat that up.

is available at advance auto parts. Also, advance has a loaner program as well, its just not nearly as well advertised known about as I just discovered it today. The giant one on the right did it. Not sure if I'll keep the set or just rent it in the future but it worked really well. I didn't even know they had this set of tools there as it's not on the shelf. My dad just happened to get lucky when he brought in my other control arm and said "what tool can I take this off with" since sears shipping is/was taking forever. (I ordered the tool in the pic at the top from sears when I made this thread and it's scheduled to arrive the 25th...)
