so say you moved into a new apartment

and you keep getting very important mail for the previous tenant almost like he/she is still giving out an address for their old place (your new place)

three months of this

at first you took the mail to the front office...that lasted a month...ever since, you have been throwing it away, new credit cards, past due notices, dental cleaning reminders, etc

you get a wedding invitation for the old tenant

do you RSVP that they arent attending or do you just throw it away?

fyi, it is a felony to open mail addressed to someone other than you, even if it's mistakenly mailed to the wrong address. as much fun as you could have with this one, i'd just keep throwing the mail away or return to sender.

Tell the mail carrier. Most apartment complexes have the names of the current tenant(s) on each of the mailboxes.

I got almost a full year's subscription of FHM a few years ago because the person never changed their address, and the mail carrier told me to just keep them.

Just keep recycling/throwing away his mail.

If he's too stupid to change his address, or keeps giving it out as his, you should do nothing that will lessen the chances of him going 'goddammit, why am I not getting any bank statements, or tax bills, or [something else noticeable]?'

Make the dumbass learn from this.
