the lox hasn't been worth listening to in years. sheek and jada are just in the gutter mixtape game recycling shitty beats with tired lyrics to keep the lights on.

i think as far as commercially marketable lyrics, the lox indeed have not done shit in years. as far as dope verses go, though, i think they hold their own, be it rap blogs or mixtapes or whateverthefuck

^^^

Raphael Saadiq if formerly of Tony Toni Tone and Lucy Pearl, also a damn good producer, and has been "featured" in a bunch of other songs. Musical genius in my opinion. And "The Way I See It" is fucking bad ass. Taking it back old school without making you fall asleep (although I love that old school Otis Redding type shit anyways).

Stick to your crunk crap.

http://rapidshare.com/files/156411035/The_P_Brothers-The_Gas-2008-CMS.tar

Quote :
"...The album’s best songs knock with intensity and ruggedness. “Digital B-Boy”, the album’s best song, an electronic wall of buzz and old school beat break drums, is the perfect music for riding the subways late at night when the only passengers on the train are you, the passed out homeless dude smelling like Boone’s Farm and societal neglect, and the creepy dude who either keeps eyeing you to snatch your wallet Deebo style or make sweet, sweet love to your unwilling buttocks in the abandoned subway station. “Outta Control” featuring Roc Marciano is a razor in your mouth street anthem with a minimalist ’88 vibe and a bass line so memorable and powerful that you’ll find yourself humming it yourself when your cold and alone. These are the standouts but the record is packed with songs like these. Their isn’t a weak cut on the entire album."

[Edited on December 24, 2008 at 12:15 AM. Reason : the em/dre thing. formulaic.]

as for the Jay-Z / Travis Barker trainwreck, if I ever have to hear another fucking rap song over some horrible radio rock shit, I might go on a shooting spree through the next batch of skaters I see.

so where's teh good hip hop? I see Q-Tip's new album, and that one track with Pharaoh. Everything else is pretty cliche, uninspiring. Well, maybe except for the new Kanye, which I like about 40% of.
