This sounds awful, but I think that my son is proof that I probably should not reproduce. There are only 5-10 children born every year like my son. The chances of a child like him are astronomical. Yet, somehow, the combination of my husband and I . . .
9/9/2008 1:05:01 AM
thats fucked up really/ your son just has a worse hairlip then usual. i cant beleive you would even say that. i mean look at this guy
9/9/2008 1:14:09 AM
Number one. Phoenix does not even have a genuine cleft lip. His actually came together in utero. Number two. My child does not just have a 'hare lip.' I wish that were the case.

her son is missing part of chromosome 22, and bottombaby has talked exensively about how he lacks a thymus (one of the key components of the immune system) and has some other skull abnormalities. bottombaby, did you and your husband get tested to confirm that its congenital? this deletion is sporadic in the overwhelming number of cases. how long til you'll know if his transplant was successful?
9/9/2008 1:19:36 AM
great way to tell tww that you dont love your baby. i wish you didnt exist. i cant wait to see how a rejected life this fuckin kid has. you should stop posting. it would better man kind. actually go off yourself

First of all, I never said that I do not love my child. I adore my child. He is my life. However, my son's disease would have been fatal just 10 years ago. And frankly, it may very well still be fatal because the treatment that he is participating in is experimental. There is NO ONE with my son's disorder that has reached adulthood.I also know that my child is far healthier than most kids with complete DiGeorge. I do not know why. But it would be irresponsible to bring another child into this world with my son's condition because a majority do not have the quality of life that my child has. And, my son does not have the expected chromosomal deletion. We are still in the midst of genetic testing. But Silas is a surprise. He is athymic and has all of the other characteristic features of DiGeorge Syndrome without the 22nd chromosomal deletion. His doctor is actually finding that the lack of the deletion is far more common than previously expected. We're still going through genetic testing, however, because there are too many overlapping anomalies between myself and my son.Amanda, Silas just had the biopsy on Friday. We will find out more in the next week or so.[Edited on September 9, 2008 at 1:27 AM. Reason : .]

I think i'm gonna go ahead and add myself to this list, especially since it looks like we aren't trying to not have kids lol
9/9/2008 1:34:34 AM
My son's cleft lip is only one minor manifestation of complete DiGeorge Syndrome.I am not even going to explain it. Just look it up. It is a fatal condition that doctors at Duke are finally having some minor success in treating.I am not embarrassed by my son's condition. I love my son. However, my son is very unhealthy and may not make it to his second birthday. I was born with a number of congenital problems myself and I worry that I may have been irresponsible in getting pregnant as quickly as I did.

^ maybe... but you did and now you get to make however long he has to live the best years. ....decades(im hopeful) you can make some great memories so if his life is short its a good oneits also not fair to you that you should not be able to have kids because they could have something wrong.. i think trying is a great idea cause what if its successful... but then i understand how sad it is if its not sucessful.. your in a crappy situation... but i hope it turns out for the best... and he lives a normal life and you have more kids who live long enough to put you in a home when your elderly loli reread this and i cant even begin to fix my grammar im so tired.. so forgive me tdub[Edited on September 9, 2008 at 1:52 AM.
