Friday September 19th @ the brewery in Raleigh

Bury Your Dead (victory)
It Dies Today (trustkill)
Classic Struggle (metalblade)
Deathblow (tragic hero)
The Ghost Inside (mediaskare)
Called To Arms (tragic hero)

This is a really solid lineup, and our first show back in Raleigh in quite awhile. We are actually playing first this show I believe. Ill post price and time when I know for sure.

sweet. I'll be making it out to this one. Missed Bury Your Dead last time they were at the Brewery.

I should probably look into their newer stuff, wore Cover Your Tracks the hell out

Nice on being the opener. Do you guys have tracks up on myspace or anything? Id look but it's blocked at work.

of course a cool show like this would come to raleigh when i don't live there anymore.

i'm contemplating coming back to NC for something else that weekend tho, so who knows. i might be there anyways. bury your dead is fun live...at least they were with cover your tracks. good to see you're back melting the faces of the masses jamie.

what do you think the probability is of this thing selling out? i mean bury your dead at the brewery? in my mind that's huge. but maybe i'm just a fan

yea http://www.myspace.com/calledtoarms has 4 songs from our 2nd album that came out last year. Im pretty relieved we are actually playing first for a change. It will be our first show in like 2 months because we took the summer off, so there will be less pressure in the first slot

^ im not 100% sure man, Im thinking its a sell out, but who knows these days. There have been plenty of shows we've played in raleigh that I thought for sure would sell out that were only like 70% capacity, and others I thought would only pull 50% that were sold out with a line so Ive stopped trying to make predictions haha. If it does sell out before you know if you want to come let me know, maybe we could help you out. and yes BYD is fun live, although I havent seen them with some of the new members.

^^ yea, I want to see advent but round trip to raleigh weekend of the 19th, driving to asheville the 23rd for mars volta, driving to raleigh weekend of Oct 3.. :/ think I may have to sit out the advent show. not 100% though, but gas is going to be killer this month already.

that would be great man, but if you can't no worries. I will certainly try and get something set up with knives again in Raleigh this fall as we always like playing with them anyways.

^^^^ bury your dead doesn't like you either joel.

so i'm going to be in town. now i have to make sure the people i'm with want to go to a show.

what time are doors? is the brewery still lame in that they push back the bands from starting so the show runs til 2+AM?

Right now I think doors are like 6pm and show is supposed to start around 6:30 last I heard so I dono. I think with as big as the show is it will end up starting a lot earlier than normal, which is good for the show. Probably not great for us though since a lot of people show up later

I'd message Mark and ask him to list me, but I'm sure he has enough Raleigh people doing that. I wish Casey was still in the band. I miss that kid.

w00t, we got a pretty awesome review in HM Magazine (Hard Music Magazine). Ive read the magazine for probably about 6 or 7 years so its pretty cool to get a good review in there. Our drummer picked up the new issue and was flipping through and just saw the review, we werent expecting it .

Quote :
"The Last Lament EP is a 28-minute trip through nearly every sub genre of metal that exists. From the grindcore parts of "The Last Lament" to the southern groove of "Locked and Loaded" to the old fashioned shred parts of "The Solace," these artists are not afraid to experiment. While Called To Arms doesn't reinvent technical metal, they are quite innovative in weaving together sounds and styles no one ever expected to hear together without sounding like completely random mishmash. In fact, the songs actually sound complete through impressive musicianship and songwriting. The heavy parts are heavy with plenty of odd time signature breakdowns, speed picking and blast beats; the metalcore riffage is plenty pit-worthy, the grooves get you moving; and the shred parts will melt plenty of scenester faces. Where Called To Arms stands out most however is during the softer moments with their melodic sensibilities reminiscent of Misery Signals but with a much broader emotional spectrum. I am excited to see what these guys can express within the scope and freedom of a full length release.

3.5/5

I caught a CTA show a few months ago when I was in Raleigh. Picked up The Last Lament and enjoyed it quite a bit. When is a full-length release coming out?

awesome

We are working on it slowly but it is planned. Right now I live in greenville SC, other guitar player lives in NYC, vocalist lives an hour outside of raleigh, drummer is in greeneville, nc and our bass player is the only one still living in raleigh haha. so needless to say we dont get to practice much at the moment. Our other guitar player might move in with me for awhile so we can finish writing.

right now we have 3 complete songs a 4th and 5th kind of wireframed with a huge pot of random individual riffs and ideas to toy with so we'll see. Goal is to record 8-10 tracks in '09 at the moment. Which means we need to finish writing and get them tight enough to record and book a date heh. Originally we had planned to just expand on the EP (ie we would be done writing now), but its been 3 years since we wrote that EP that we put out last year so the new stuff really stands by itself better we think, plus we are itching to get new material.

Jamie, would you feel validated? or assraped? if a piracy group released your album on 'the scene' ?

good deal.

^^nah. but then again we arent living off of our earnings, it all goes back into merch restocking and studio time for the next record. but also, we've gotten merch orders from all over the place from people that would never have heard of us without the internet so I embrace it

EDIT: er woops, read that wrong, i thought you said violated or assraped. reread it and saw you were asking a question with an option. but based on my answer yea i wouldnt feel "assraped"

not too much of a metal head, but i appreciate good music in all forms. The last 2 minutes of your track "the last lament" is wonderful. nice work. If this show doesn't sell out I may come just to hear that and some of your other stuff.

really appreciate that man

Although I do have to warn you that we won't be playing that at this show. We havent gotten to practice in a bit and that is our most challenging song to nail live, especially after taking a few months off. :/ we'll be working on trying to get it show tight again after this though because I love playing that song.
