I have 20 valid licenses for the "not for distribution" version (this is not retail or OEM) of XP 64bit edition with service pack 1.
Acronis disk director fucked my partition (link) and I need to reinstall Windows. But my keys are only valid for the install disc printed "not for distribution".
I can't find where my dad put all the Vista keys (except for the Vista Ultimate x64 key, good for 1 activation) and I'd rather not install Server 03 or 08 on there.
Does know where I can get one of these discs? 9/10/2008 8:03:04 PM |

Microsoft doesn't replace these discs.
I managed to make a copy of it on another PC. I also managed to recover the fux0red windows partition.
I get a blue screen when it's booting but it comes and goes so fast I can't see what it says. I tried to reinstall, and it says Setup can't find any hard drives... even though I can boot to them. 9/10/2008 9:14:16 PM |

Ok I got setup to recognize the disks and went into the recovery console. It appears the disk with the windows partition is being assigned the drive letter C: even though it was previously D:. The drive with the windows partition is plugged into the second SATA port though, so I don't know why that is being recognized as C: and the first drive is D:. Any way to change that? 9/10/2008 9:31:30 PM |

That's how I recovered the windows partition, but I don't know how windows assigns hard drive letters. Nonetheless, the recovered partition is still fux0red, so I'm reinstalling.

server '08 x64, you say. I'll have to look into this. I know Vista sucks from an ultimate x64 and x32 installation in the house, but I've loved my XP x64 so far. Have to check this out... 9/10/2008 9:44:59 PM |
