he's part of my lunch crew hilarious though, and sent a message asking what "fuckaroo" meant
i told him it meant it was time i re-evaluated my security settings.
(as a backstory the other weekend my status went to "Ben is fuckaroo!" at ~3am and i dont remember doing that at all) 9/12/2008 8:48:13 AM |

See - I am not a 14 year old girl, thus I am not a member of facebook, myspace. These "mini blogs" with the narcissistic status update (no - I could give 2 fucks if Joe is working on his first cup of coffee) are childish. 9/12/2008 8:53:28 AM |

again, that's cute....
but next time you quote me, don't cut off parts on my sentences...
I said MANY employers...not all. I said EXPECT...not require
cut the shit kid. it's painfully obvious that employers use facebook during the hiring process. and many companies like for their employees to have these pages listing the employer as a network... are you fucking kidding me?
aside from that, almost every professional that I work with on a daily basis (both older and younger) use facebook as a networking tool. I don't what else to tell you, son. except that you're limiting your availability and networking options if you only see facebook as a place to post funny pictures and colored text.
-------------------------------------
haha, yeah that was my mentor in grad school. I don't technically have one at the moment, but I think I have 3 people in mind here who I'm going to partner up with. 1 is a Cornell alumni that I know working on wall st. the 2 others are higher ups here where I work. they're all in positions that I would like to be in within 10 years....masters of their domains....and almost unlimited contacts and resources

Give me one example where an employer REQUIRES a facebook. Now justify how having said facebook helps in a corporate setting.
Employers use facebook - to weed out people with preteen mentalities before hiring. 9/12/2008 9:50:11 AM |

sure....I'll be happy to do that....just as soon as you show me where I said anything about requirements...

Nice 180.
Teens with MySpace or Facebook sites are far more likely to be contacted by strangers than those who don't have them. Forty-four percent of teens who have personal profiles on social networking sites have been contacted by people they don't know, compared to 16% for teens who don't.
facebook, blogs, myspace are for geeks and pedofiles. 9/12/2008 10:04:59 AM |

180? what are you rabbling on about now. I'm begging you to go back and quote me (fully - none of your chopping half of my quote off to prove your bullshit point) to show where I've changed my position or contradicted myself.
Sure facebook CAN be unprofessional. Also, water is wet. How does then mean that businesses and corporations don't and can't still use it?
actually, nevermind man. until you can actually form a sensible argument, you're being dismissed as a troll. I won't be responding to you anymore.... 9/12/2008 10:12:46 AM |

Yea, once I started getting professional peeps hopping on my Facebook, it was time for a revamp.
So sorry GGMon can't see how much American culture is changing. Social media and social networking sites are absolutely vital to many companies - take marketing, for example. There are entire organizations built around social media research and marketing through social websites like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn and so on. If you want to be seen by employers as having *omg* extracurricular interests and an actual personality, yea, you're gonna want to have at least one of these. If you wanna be a nuclear physicist, okay, maybe not so much... But clearly you have no desire to keep in touch with high/middle school friends and college friends as you venture out into the world. It's a bit sad, really, because these sites are the quickest way to keep in touch with those people. Who really calls all their past friends or e-mails them?
ANYWAY. /rant. Back to cleaning up the pics 9/12/2008 10:34:25 AM |

Now if GGfag actually had any friends he might know this but a wide variety if not most of the folks our age use Facebook and Myspace to track down and keep in touch with friends from high school or hell even elementary school in some cases.
Oh, and your title is totally misleading. I thought this thread was about Winnie the Pooh.

All you got to do is set up those privacy settings. Put the dude in a group where he can only see your profile. No wall, no pics, etc. I have a whole group containing all the people from my company that have friended me. 9/12/2008 11:53:41 AM |
