I really find the rights recent turn on the Palin sexism issue to be disgusting. They were on the other side of the fence and speaking out against hillary when she was making these clearly unsubstantiated claims within her own party yet now they are pulling the same card. the republicans tend to do this often. they will rag and often slander those on the left and assert that person's opinion and/or actions are morally decrepit, and then later defend the same thing for themselves. its one of the first rules in the book "the prince", you accuse your opponent of what it is your doing. it is also morally inconsistent and devoid of sound reason.

the link is five minutes, and sums it up nicely with examples of previous takes

the republicans all politicians tend to do this often

edit: actually I may be mis-speaking. many politicians do, but its mostly partisan pundits, commentators, etc.

oh get off your high horse about john stewart. it's a sad look at the hypocrisy in politics in general, and sometimes, because the mainstream media has their heads so far up their asses, it takes people like john stewart and steven colbert to point this shit out.

let's be honest here. i know that rarely happens here, but look:

1) hillary is pissed she didn't win. so is bill. you really think she wants obama to win and force her to wait 8 years to run for president again?? no.

2) continued bashing on palin is awesome. i encourage it. it only shows how thugish the democrats have become. it's ok, if you're sensible, you still don't have to vote for them, it's not too late.

the republican party panders to the willfully ignorant

THE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR

that's why they're successful and why it's constantly an uphill battle for the democrats

so you would rather these people vote for Obama? Are you saying that people on the left have opened their eyes and are voting for the "correct" choice?

Saying that one party has some kind of moral high-ground and integrity as opposed to the other is kinda laughable to me.

Personally I think anyone voting for either major party candidate needs to open their eyes!

I do realize you may not have been saying that the left and Obama are superior, but just that conservatives are hypocrites.

Instead of saying that "Conservatives are hypocrites" can't we just say "Politicians are Hypocrites"

news reported with a comedic slant does not necessarily require the news to be fake. these are all legitimate clips taken from what these republican pundits and campaign spokesmen have said. There is no getting around there. When someone has the capability of understanding the real life absurdity of a situation even when expressed through what is often times comedic satire i think that shows they have a sound analytic and evaluative perception, which in many ways makes their vote more reasonable and thought out, in contrast to blindly partisan.

^i think its different when applied to republicans because as of part of their qualification and their stance they use their moral eliteness to defend themselves and assert that the other party has absolutely none. when you use that as a qualification of your party's benefit towards policy its fair for it to be examined and criticized closely.

No. This is not an act. He pulled clips from different right-wing pundits saying one thing in the past in order to criticize Democrats but they do a complete 180 when it's the exact same scenario being applied to a Republican. It's blatant hypocrisy and you're an ignorant son of a bitch for failing to realize how ignorant you are.

^^^^^ There might be a point there if it weren't Democrats voting for who will be at the top of their ticket. But they did vote for it. So it doesn't matter two shits what Republicans want. That's like saying the left was trying to get Tom Tancredo the Republican nomination because he would be easier to beat.

^ You would actually have to give a fuck enough to vote to take orders.

see twista. that's my point^

in their opinion the power hungry/ tax hungry horde has already won. (in actuality he(obama) is just a glorified speech giver) but they already assume he's got the people with jobs and educations shaking in their boots giving their money to the lazy.

they don't care what the american public wants. it's all up to a handfull of men that meet daily and broadcast talking points. they get the rss feed and begin spewing and don't even care if an actual vote will be taken this year.

we might as well skip the actual election according to the hockey, baseball, soccer mom haters.

Some people want to make a choice for themselves.

I want to choose a socially liberal and economically conservative candidate.

There are very few candidates I can choose from. None will be included in the presidential debate.

I hear you on that one. The only wholesale spending that doesn't bother me a bit is when it comes to environmental protection but otherwise I am generally in favor of allowing the individual to do with their money as they chose. I have to roll with the 'dems' because they seem to be the only ones who give a shit about long term sustainability.

Yup. Once again, the Democrats and Republicans are energizing their lowest common denominator bases and making everything suck for people who don't see in black and white. I would shed a little tear of joy if both Obama and McCain got run over by a mack truck.

Recap:

1) A post showing seemingly contradictory quotes over time by the Republican party.
2) A lot of name calling and attack the source. No new data, facts, or refutation. Nothing but "yo' mama" type dishin' the dozens.

This is a sad level of discourse on a college board.

Quote :
"I have to roll with the 'dems' because they seem to be the only ones who give a shit about long term sustainability."

I have to agree with this. Moreover, I think the Republicans have made a deliberate push toward senseless consumption, in the name of profits. I'll give an example to at least provide some backup of my opinion. It's been known for 30 years that dependence on imported oil is a national security issue. The Republicans have pandered to the auto industries cries that they can't do anything to reduce fuel economy - not to mention exemptions for SUVs. What is their answer? The Strategic Petrolium Reserve - more consumption, imagine that. I have nothing against the SPR, it's just that more consumption seems to be their answer to all of America's problems.

^McCain also advocates advancements in nuclear power and increasing the number of nuclear power plants in the US. It's one of the few things I still like about the Republican side... too bad his campaign and the GOP are also tied up with advocating drilling for their big oil buddies.

Ok csharp, maybe you just need a lesson. This is how intellegent discourse is supposed to work: Theis, support, refutation, support, etc.

Refer to my post about 6 posts up: My thesis was that Republicans push consumption even when it contradicts our national security goals. To support it I talked about their resisting efforts at less consumption through MPG improvements, exempting SUVs from MPG goals, and consuming more oil through the Strategic Petrolium Reserve.

Now refer to your typical post - which I contend is just cheap sloganeering, and unsupported name calling:

Quote :
"too bad mccains campaign and the GOP are also tied up with advocating drilling for their big oil buddies.

too bad obamas campaign and the LIBS are also tied up with advocating drilling for their OPEC oil buddies. "

You're in college son ... you should be able to come up with something to back up your opinions - anything? That is, if you want people to see you as anything more than just a troll ...
