and the adults don't know what sizes are right and whether or not some kids can get the numbers they chose and whatnot because the sizes are wrong
and it's all idiocy...these are 11-12 year old kids, not five year old t-ball players who aren't playing competitively
and it occurs to me that all such competitive teams should be numbered alphabetically from 2-19 with goalies being 1 and 20 (at least in the case of hockey) so that there'll be no bickering 9/13/2008 5:44:45 PM |

I was #15 in soccer and in basketball. Of course, everyone wanted 23 back in those days . . .

I was sideways eight (infinity) in intramurals.
There was also a Pi on my team, and a fraction. 9/13/2008 7:54:17 PM |

the soccer program at my HS was so worthless, we had 2 styles of uniforms. We had some repeat numbers and you couldn't play legally with that. So we had to add tape to change 1's into 4's. ] 9/13/2008 9:08:08 PM |

I never kept the same number for more than one year. Kinda reflective of how helter-skelter my life is.
In youth basketball, I was 32, then 25, then 5, then 43. In AAU I took 35, then when we got new jerseys, I switched to 40. In high school, I wore 52 for JV and 30 for varsity, then 42 JV/12 varsity, then 45 varsity, then 33 varsity. On the NROTC rec team I wore 1.
In football I wore 18 and in baseball I wore 20. Played both for one season.
I had to look up a lot of old pictures to recall all that
