whatcha use? i was using picasa2 for awhile and it worked out pretty well. is picasa3 too bloated/complicated? i'm kinda wary of the whole 'google owns you and all your pics' sort of thing.

Any other options?

i used picasa2 off and on since it came out. when picasa3 came out i re-organized and re-structured my entire photo library (~4000 photos) in picasa3 and have had pretty good results. imo though it's not that much different than picasa2

and as for the "google owns you" thing, i don't use the picasa web albums, so they aren't really getting any of my stuff. it's all stored on my own computer. and picasa has decent integration with external photo services sites. for example, i got a plugin button that uploads photos to facebook, since that's where i share everything

Picasa3 is not more bloated ... very sleek and works great for organization. Some great new features for the new version too.

I'm confused. why is the face tagging stuff in the Picasa WEB albums app but not the main picasa app?

why have a web app if you have a real app? I'd like to use face tagging to tag and help organize the 10gigs of crap on my harddrive.. i don't care about the web.
