I have made money betting on NASCAR every weekend for a month straight, and Greg Biffle fucked it up.

Nascar is a fucking boring shitty excuse for redneck/hicks to get drunk as fuck watching a bunch of cars drive in a circle and it takes 5 godamn hours for one of the women drivers to crash and then everyone catches on fire and some lucky redneck gets in 1st place and gets on the back of a frosted flakes cereal box

good because its the most boring form of racing. 20 cars on a track that dont pass because the cars are made of toothpicks.
nascar just happens to be more popular than any other form of racing in America. and its the most expensive sport to participate in as well. go to one race and you will change your mind.
nascar is getting more fortune 500 by the day. to say it is a redneck sport is by far the worst observation and the most retarded thing to say and shows how little you know about the sport.
sure 10 years ago. there was plenty of redneckery. but today its a multi-million dollar franchise9/15/2008 12:20:43 PM |

vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
i'm looking for an actual graph, but tv ratings are down somewhere around 15% over the past two or three years
also, the 2009 F1 aero package is going to make for some very interesting racing developments
here's a daytona 500 graph:

one could say so many things that are so much more retarded than 'nascar is a redneck sport'.
[Edited on September 15, 2008 at 1:43 PM. Reason : for example, i could say 'the majority of nascar enthusiasts are not rednecks.']9/15/2008 1:42:14 PM |

sure the ratings are not going to be a flat line every year but as i state look at the ratings from 98-08 do you see the number of veiwers increase.

hmm...i'll just cede the point and maintain that it's boring
the 24 hour will always be the interesting daytona race for me
and i'm not debating that nascar exploded in popularity over the past ten years...but there has been a pullback from the point of greatest interest ] 9/15/2008 2:40:03 PM |

They make driver changes in the Rolex series sprint races (less than six hours) at quick intervals because each driver has to have a certain amount of seat time for them both to get points.
The Rolex 24 has essentially become a sprint race, with drivers cutting a much quicker pace than they did fifteen years ago. Back when my dad was running the 24, the stints were around four hours each, instead of the two and a half at the max that most run now. There's also the point (from a sense of physical fatigue) that a DP car will do at least double the G forces of a stock car at the same circuit. 9/15/2008 2:50:51 PM |

The aero package changes in F1 for 2009 will also make close racing more practical, because the efficiency changes to the front wings will keep the difference between clean-air front downforce and dirty-air front downforce to a minimum. 9/15/2008 2:53:12 PM |
