Either one. I haven't run linux for a while. I usually install both gnome and kde and change it up every now and then.

I used to like KDE but really you can customize gnome so much that I just use it and mess around with/remove unnecessary panels

ubuntu has been pissing me off recently. it's been locking up a lot. i've had my old desktop with XP running for about 2 weeks now and my relatively new laptop with ubuntu can't stand to be run more than 24 hours at a time before the sound goes out, programs refuse to start up, and finally, the system menu stops responding. i have to ctrl+alt+backspace and reboot. i think maybe ubuntu just has too much shit on it to be stable like debian is.
