He did that with another series of books. He wrote 3-4 in the series (Juxtaposition was one of them) and they wrapped up happy ending etc. The like 5-6 years later he wrote another 3-4 (Phase Doubt was one of them). They were all pretty good, but I want closure.
I think in one of the authors notes he said he wrote the new series because he was bored...
