I think we the people deserve a rational explanation as to how, and why this was allowed to occur.

Amendment 1 you say?

Well I say Amendment 9,
"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."
AS IT APPLIES TO THE F***ING PREAMBLE of the Constitution!!
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

I am abhorred that this was consciously allowed to be distributed to my neighbors, and to the neighborhoods of my hometown (you heard right- I'm US by birth, southern by the grace of God); not to mention anywhere in the United States of America. To add insult to injury, it was distributed by a news source whose commitment to diversity "strengthens an appreciation, respect and understanding of our differences." (newsandobserver.com)

This post has nothing to do with anything else other than a simple DVD that I found folded neatly into a periodical that I trusted and used daily to GATHER INFORMATION ON EVERYTHING GOING ON IN THE WORLD BEYOND MY FRONT DOORSTEP.

In all the years I have lived, I have never so much as heard a whisper out of the mouth of someone who actually shares the sentiments revealed by this DVD. Except in media. Have you?

I fail to see how your 9th Amendment rights were trampled on here. The 9th amendment was inserted to pacify the anti-Federalists who were worried that the Bill of Rights would be construed as enumerating the only rights Americans had. Its purpose was and is to expand the range of rights we enjoy, not to restrict them by some obtuse reference to the preamble.

It takes a whole new level of ignorance to use the Bill of Rights to negate itself.

That is the problem. Hate speech is protected speech, be it against Islam, Jews, Christians, Pagans, Atheists, vegans or pacifists. The whole purpose of the first amendment is to protect unpopular speech.

yeah but trust me, nothing like that against Jews would be tolerated. nobody might go to jail, but there will definitely be an uproar in the country, and black lists will be drawn. careers will be destroyed, and names dragged in mud.

Hopefully they would if it were against Jews, or Christians, or any sort of ideological group. You can choose to be a Jew, a Muslim, or a Christan. And these groups have ideologies that people proscribe themselves to that can have effects on the population as a whole. Now, I would have a problem if it were against Blacks, or Irish, or Arabs, since that is merely an ethnicity. Comparing Blacks to Muslims is non sequitur.

Regardless, as long as it isn't directly inciting violence against people it should be guaranteed speech. Don't like it? Don't buy it, or that newspaper, or whatever.

No magazine or newspaper would dare distribute a video against Jews. Even if they believed in it. Because they know they would be out of business in a heartbeat.

No magazine or newspaper would dare distribute a video against Blacks. Even if they believed in it. Because they know the country would probably explode into violent rioting and their office will be ransacked.

^ Public opinion... but even if nobody cared much, the Israeli lobby would make sure those who dared say something are annihilated (not physically, but in every other way).
