I took one 25 minutes ago, and I don't feel anything yet.

(the flight doc gave us each a "no-go" pill to take as a "test run" to see how we handle it. this is the first chance i've had to get 8 hours of sleep when I wasn't flying the next day. i'm not purposefully sedating myself on a friday night at 8:35 pm for no reason--i'd prefer to be out raging. i have to get up way early tomorrow anyway, though, so I wasn't gonna be able to go out tonight either way.)

how addictive/habit-forming is this stuff?

i take one every night

20-30 minutes, but you kinda got to be in a relaxed mood to sleep

if you stay active it probably won't kick in as well

^^^ dammit. i am hopelessly nocturnal, i guess. i just cannot seem to go to sleep before midnight (and that's actually progress...it used to be more like at least 2 am.)

if you keep yourself up, there's a chance you're going to start semi-hallucinating

it's probably best that you know that

you want to be finished with all physical activity before taking the ambien

ideally you want to take the pill and then immediately go lie down and try to sleep - it's most effective that way

i had th same problem but instead of drugs just start waking up a few hours earlier. its easier to wake up early than it is to go to bed early. then you will be tired at an early bedtime. so if ur waking up at 8 now wake up at 6 and then you will get tired at least 2 hour earlier. fi you dont then just keep waking up early and it will kick in. your biological clock takes up a week to update so you probably need to wake up early and go to bed on the weekends.

when i first started trying to fix the problem i would wake up at 8 but i was going to bed at like 4 or 5 on the weekends and waking up at like 1 or 2 so it would be all off by monday.

I start to have some mild hallucinations after about 30 minutes.

Last night, I took one and sat in bed reading with the TV on. The last thing I remember is looking at the blinds thinking that they look like they're wiggling. Josh said that he came to go to bed, woke me up, talked to me for a few minutes as I just blinked owlishly at him. I just stared at him when he asked me to roll over so he could get in bed. He pulled my glasses off and moved me himself.

I do not remember much of anything that happens during the night after I take my Ambien. Before I am zombified, sometimes I get a little silly and start to talk about my hallucinations. I have always slept after taking an Ambien, even if it takes some time to kick in.

Heath Ledger didn't have Ambien in his system. He had oxycodone, hydrocodone, Unisom, and several different benzos.

No wonder he died.

i've had serious hallucinations after 1 1/2 hours, but then again, i've also sleep driven 2hours after taking one. woke up at a stoplight in traffic at 2am after i slightly bumped into the car in front of me filled with scary 250lb black dudes, luckily no damage (to the cars or myself)

needless to say, i stay away from ambien/lunesta/sonata/etc (all classified as "HYPNOTICS") and just stick with benadryl or benzos.
