Watched a QB come of age today!!! Great vision, he actually played like a D1 QB today, something we haven't seen in a long long time. Good reads, good decisions...still needs some work on deciding when to run for the first down, and when to throw. But good things are in RW's future!!!

Everyone was screaming this after Evans' first win too. Let's give it some time before we give him his crown and scepter

I love watching this guy play quarterback.

I thought he outplayed a senior "heisman candidate" today.

i completely agree with you but

at the same time, i like how the entire team especially the seniors trust this guy and not evans/beck

Evans' first win was non-stop throwing the ball up and having his WRs make a play. This was very different.

^ Yeah. Everyone got excited that Evans could make the big throws, but even in that game he didn't really grab the offense by its bootstraps and move it down the field in chunks.

0 INTs. The kid is patient, he takes what he can get, doesn't make stupid cocky decisions like Beck is prone to do sometimes. Perfect T'Ob quarterback. I hope Glennon is soaking all of this in.

Seriously... wait a few more games before crowning this kid. I think ECU just got really lucky the first two games and haven't actually been as good as people have been lead to believe.

In other words, this isn't a huge upset and 3 TDs isn't that impressive against them...

^I watched the VT game and they were lucky to be hanging with ECU at all. ECU had a botched pitch and a botched kick return that gave VT points. I didn't watch WVU so I can't talk about that game. ECU definitely just outplayed VT though.

It's obvious that wilson is better than evans and beck. His good play was due to good decision making and skill. The fact that he will throw the ball away or check down automatically makes him much better.

Evans and beck won by luck -- throwing up prayers and having receivers make spectacular plays. In this game, the receivers tried their best to drop balls.

TL; DR

When we have our 2 QB system of Glennon to throw, Wilson to throw a little and run bootlegs, we'll be good

i dont mind realism and patience but please keep the hate out of this thread

we finally played a d1a game against a team without a top 20 defense in the nation and he played great...he's no rivers but he's about the best we've had since rivers left

I didn't. I was happy about the game, but that was luck. This was different, Wilson earned it. It may be to early to say he will bring us to the promise land, but I think he's much better than Evans ever was. Time will tell.

I can't account for the behavior of others, but I definitely didn't think evans or his predecessors were as good as wilson in their breakout games.

Just because the reactions are, on the whole, similar doesn't mean that the QBs are similar. Wilson is much better. That was his second full game, and you'd be hard-pressed to find more than 2 bad decisions that he made in that game.

And unlike evans or beck, he still has upside. He's going to start hitting some of those plays outside of the numbers.

Jamie was so underrated...Of course Torry helped (A LOT) but he was a good servicable qb who made good decisions and never HURT us.

If RW turns out to do the same, I'll tip my hat to him and say thank you b/c we've haven't had anything like Jamie (obviously excluding PRiv) since 03

Who is everyone? Everyone I talked to about Evans, and that would be folks that actually know football, knew that the heave and pray with the rag arm would eventually run out of steam. Teams would load the box up and dare him to throw, and he failed.

Anyone that has been paying attention the past 3 weeks, can see a quarterback that is growing and getting more comfortable each game. You can also see an OLine that is starting to play just a little bit better.

We DO have our quarterback. I mean, we could still go with simons suggestion and throw Glennon to the Wolves. I know that guy could scramble out of the tough situations as well as Wilson could.

Lets do it!

the O'line play was fantastic today, and that helped russell a ton. since he's short he needs holes in the line to be able to see and use his feet. if the oline play is this good the rest of the season, I definitely see 6 or 7 wins.

btw... this is the same ECU front 7 that was able to slow down WVU's white and devine for 4 straight quarters.

Ok, now slow down. ECU caught two very overrated teams asleep with some pretty good games. The line on this game was like 7. Vegas more knowledgeable than early season pollsters.

reading comprehension FTW... i conditioned my 6-7 wins based on good offensive line play. the first 2 FBS games, our O'line was horrid. today it was good, giving wilson time in the pocket. if that continues to happen our chances are good in future games

I read what you wrote. Good OL play from this bunch isn't going to happen against DLs better than ECU has. And anyway, did you watch the same game I did? Wilson did quite a bit more scrambling than he spent hanging out in the pocket.

ECU's front 7 is no slouch. the big difference between the first two games (clemson and SC) is that the pocket was being collapsed. today there were holes in it for Russell to move through. we have a mobile QB, i'm ok with him moving out of the pocket if it makes sense.
